After a space merchant vessel perceives an unknown transmission as a distress call, its landing on the source moon finds one of the crew attacked by a mysterious lifeform, and they soon realize that its life cycle has merely begun.
Up until 2012, all the androids in the franchise had been named in alphabetical order: Ash in this film, Bishop in Aliens (1986) and Alien³ (1992), Call in Alien: Resurrection (1997), and David in Prometheus (2012). (at around 1h 20 mins) When Ripley finds out the truth from Mother, Ash is seen standing next to her. A brief scuffle ensues and Ripley leaves the room. As she leaves there is no injury to her but when the door opens on the other side she has a bloody right nostril.
The title of the movie is slowly created one line at a time at the top of the screen during the opening credits, starting out with the I, then vertical lines in L and E, and the forward slash in A and the slash in N (so it looks like / I I I \), then the ensuing lines of each letter are added slowly one at a time until the title is fully visible.
