James Bond investigates the mid-air theft of a space shuttle, and discovers a plot to commit global genocide.
The opening sequence depicts the space shuttle piggybacked on a 747, and was shot before the first shuttle was launched into space. Ironically, the last "flights" of Endeavor and Discovery were also piggybacks. They were flown over major cities, such as Los Angeles and Washington, D.C., as a final tribute to the program in 2012 (thirty-three years after this movie's release).
How are we doing, Richard?
RAF Officer: We should pass over the English coast 15 minutes ahead of time, sir.
Captain: Wow! With this load on our back, that's good going.
RAF Officer: Just trust the RAF, sir.
When Corinne runs into the forest and is chased by the two dogs, her shoes change from tan high-heel shoes to sneakers and blue knee-socks.
THE END of "MOONRAKER" James Bond will return in "FOR YOUR EYES ONLY"
The Italian TV version is heavily edited to fit into the scheduling but this also alters the plot of the film significantly, particuarly in the opening skydiving sequence. After stealing the pilot's parachute Bond clips it shut and the scene involving Jaws is completely gone. Instead we cut from the pilot screaming to the shot of someone falling onto the circus big top, making it look as if this is the pilot. Also the scene with the girl being torn apart by dogs is gone, after she shows Bond the hidden safe she is never seen again and Drax only appears in the Cucumber Sandwiches scene before we see him chastising Bond for breaking up the fight with the snake.
