An up-and-coming gangster is tested by the insurgence of an unknown, very powerful threat.
Two scenes in the film come directly from Barrie Keeffe's life: a widow lifting her veil and spitting in his face, and the story of a man being nailed to the warehouse floor. "I interviewed that man in the hospital," Keeffe remembers now, "and said 'What exactly... ...
Two large Bushmills, please, darlin'.
In the last scene of the movie, Bob Hoskins gets into the left rear passenger seat of the car. When Pierce Brosnan pops up from the front passenger seat, he looks toward the vacant right rear passenger seat pointing his gun in that direction rather than at Hoskins. He continues looking in the wrong direction for the entire scene.
