The Bandit goes on another cross-country run, transporting an elephant from Florida to Texas. And, once again, Sheriff Buford T. Justice is on his tail.
At the beginning of the film, Sheriff Buford T. Justice stands in front of a church named "Texarkana Reformed United Evangelical Fundamental Church of God, the Twelve Apostles and Assorted Saints."
Buford T. Justice:
Are you alright, Junior?
Buford T. Justice: You would be, you shit!
There is no desert between Miami and Dallas.
Outtakes during the credits.
Extensive overdubbing was required for network TV broadcast, in particular replacing a good percentage of Jackie Gleason's dialogue with new lines spoken by an actor with a noticably higher voice. The recurring phrase "Sum-bitch!" became "Scum-bum!" (same as TV prints of the first Smokey and the Bandit (1977)). Even the bloopers at the end needed to be redubbed, with the phrase "your mother's ass" being changed to "your father's face"!
