Sight gags and non-sequiturs dominate this spoof of police dramas. The six episodes formed the basis for the very successful "Naked Gun" film franchise.
Paramount Television, which produced this series, acquired the rights to Quinn Martin's library, which was heavily spoofed on this show.

The closing credits of each episode included the narrator inviting viewers to "tune in next week for another exciting adventure". The only episode not to feature this voiceover was the final episode.
The home video versions of some episodes have changed music in some scenes. For instance, when they sing "Happy Birthday" at a birthday and when 'Leslie Nielsen' sings Judy Garland tunes in the nightclub. Presumably this is due to a music licensing issue.
