Before the release of this film, Sheetal who had a vampish role that offered her a brief romance with Amitabh, had claimed that she was the main heroine for some cheap publicity. This upset Rakhee Gulzar as she knew this was a lie. Sheetal reasoned that Rakhee was opposite Vinod Mehra and Amitabh was opposite her.
Initially Rekha was cast opposite Amitabh but she later was replaced by Raakhee since Amitabh had stopped signing films with Rekha. When Danny dropped out Vinod Mehra was signed in for the role.
