Ford Motor Company did some research and development where the Mustang was developed into a Special Service Package, which the CHP and Michigan State Police tested and evaluated - the SSP version of the Mustang was introduced in 1982. Chevrolet later re-entered the Camaro into a police package during the 1991 model year with the B4C option - which had several improvements (the third-generation Camaro, at the time the B4C was introduced, had a port fuel injection system and dual catalytic converters common to the IROC-Zs of the era).
