The musical version of 'Les Misérables' opened at the Broadway Theater on March 12, 1987 and ran for 6680 performances, making it the third longest running show on Broadway.
In 1985, an extended cut of the film aired on French TV in the form of a miniseries of four episodes with a running time of 55 minutes each. This version (not counting episode credits and initial resumes from scenes from past episodes) contains between 15 and 20 minutes of scenes not seen in the theatrical cut of the film.
