A sheriff tries to stop the killing spree of a silent maniacal murderer who, as the result of secret genetic experimentation by an unethical scientist, has the ability to self-heal.
The name of the medical facility is never revealed in the film's storyline.
Dr. Philip Spires:
Bones will mend, wounds will heal, diseases cured. Isn't that worth everything? Anything!
Dr. Tom Halman: Yeah, look, before we go to Stockholm and pick up the Nobel Prize I want the works done on him.
When Dr. Vaughan tries to kill John Kirby by injecting him with sulfuric acid, he draws the acid into a standard plastic syringe. In real life the acid would very quickly destroy the plastic, rubber and steel components of the syringe.
Although the UK cinema version was uncut all UK video versions were cut by 41 secs by the BBFC to edit some scenes of violence. These included an axe blow to a man's head, the terrorizing and murder of Nancy Halman, and the discovery of the corpse of Dr Vaughn with a syringe in his neck.
