"Nesto izmedju" means "something in between" in Serbian. The film is again a masterpiece written by Srdjan Karanovic. Not the first one - I was really impressed by his "Petrijin venac", one of ten best Jugoslavian movies ever made. "Nesto izmedju" is unique. If you don't know anything about Serbian (Balkan) mentality, it's a quite good guide. Story is quite simple - a woman from Western World (USA) accidentally comes to Belgrade of 80's, after just a few hours feels fascinated by the city, people, habits, food etc. Of course she soon falls in love with her friend, a doctor in a hospital, whom met sometime in the past. They try to live (survive?) in the city "in between" east and west. If the lady's dream comes true, you can see...Anyway life is not what it seems to be. If anyone have never been in Eastern Europe during communist regime, understanding of what it's all about may come as a shock...But remember, we lived this way (as seen in the film) more than 40 years. It was reality, not fun. And not a kind of bad joke, just almost half a century cut from our lives. So realistic told by Karanovic, Master for me.
  • I watched this movie after long time on TV today. It is a slow movie. It is a movie to think. Some questions asked are same in every country ,some unique for former Yugoslavia and people living there. When you have people around you always have many questions. Love and where to go. Sometimes we go to soon , sometimes somebody comes too late... I don't know why.

Some questions are answered, some not but it is a movie too watch with one reason: Too give an answer to all questions asked and to listen given answers. It is a movie about LOVE in former Yugoslavia but LOVE between american woman and man from Serbia. It's a complicated love story but that makes every LOVE greater when complications are solved.

Travel and love because every travel or love are only part of our journey and best teachers we are going to meet in our lives.
