Seven British construction workers escape Britain's ever growing dole queues and travel to Germany to work on a site in Düsseldorf. We follow their trials and tribulations of working away from home and away from the women they left behind.
Moxey's real first name is "Albert". This is revealed when a policeman tries to arrest him in Spain in series 2. It is also mentioned briefly in series 3, although Mickey Startup says that his name is just "Moxey, just like Moby."

Most of the German location shots in Series 1 were filmed in Hamburg, not Dusseldorf. One of the giveaways is that many of the cars have HH (Hamburg) number plates.
The scene with Oz, Dennis and Neville looking over the bows of a cross-Channel ferry is an almost exact copy of a scene at the end of Series 2, which was the final series that Central made in 1986.
Series 2 - Cowboys - Scene with Barry, Moxey & Wayne discussing the Ghost: this scene has had a few lines about the "revenge western" cut, along with the lines sung by Barry from "Riders on the Storm" by "The Doors." Lyric copyright complications prevented its inclusion.
