Scream 7 started filming at the start of January, aiming for a February 27, 2026 release date, and we’ve seen some surprising reports about the slasher sequel as it has made its way through production – with the most surprising and strange news being that Matthew Lillard and Scott Foley, who played Ghostface killers who were killed off in Scream (1996) and Scream 3, respectively, and David Arquette, whose beloved character Dewey lost his life in Scream (2022), are all in the cast. But there’s one person on the Scream franchise body count that has been hoping to come back for Scream 7 and hasn’t been contacted yet: Sarah Michelle Gellar, who played ill-fated college student Cici Cooper in Scream 2.
Gellar told Entertainment Tonight (with thanks to Coming Soon for the transcription), “I’m not in [Scream 7]. I tried to get in [Scream 7], nobody wanted me. They were bringing everybody back.

New Hunger Games: Sunrise On The Reaping Cast Revealed(Photo Credit –Instagram)
Lionsgate just dropped a major casting bomb for the Hunger Games prequel, and it’s one hell of a lineup. Based on Suzanne Collins’ March 2025 novel, Sunrise on the Reaping hits theaters on November 20, 2026. This time, we’re heading back more than 20 years before Katniss’ rebellion to follow a 16-year-old Haymitch Abernathy—yes, that Haymitch, long before he was the bitter, boozy mentor with a death glare and a flask.
Australian breakout Joseph Zada will step into the younger Haymitch’s shoes. You might’ve caught him in Total Control or Invisible Boys, but now he’s taking on the 50th Hunger Games (aka the Second Quarter Quell) with more heart and heartbreak than we’ve ever seen from the character. The twist? He’s sober, smitten, and politically aware.
Speaking of smitten — enter Whitney Peak as Lenore Dove Baird,...

People in New York City call the Ghostbusters when something strange is in their neighborhood... or Blue Bloods' NYPD officer Danny Reagan (Donnie Wahlberg). In Boston, on the Blue Bloods spinoff, Boston Blue, they'll be calling the newly joined Boston Police Officer Danny Reagan and members of the Silver family, a prominent law enforcement family. Ernie Hudson, who played Winston Zeddemore in the Ghostbusters franchise, has joined the cast of the spinoff as the Silver family patriarch and a man of the cloth. And while ghosts won't be the culprits running around Beantown, a familiar face used to hunting them will play a new character in the upcoming police procedural.
According to Deadline, Hudson will play Reverend Peters, a renowned pastor of a historic Baptist church in Boston. Reverend Peters is the Silver family patriarch, who is open-minded and welcoming. He's also the father of Mae Silver, Boston's District Attorney,...

Warner Bros. has been the owner of HBO since its creation over 52 years ago. Back then, there were no streaming services but, amid the rise of streaming platforms, Warner Bros. introduced HBO Max in 2020.
The subscription premiered in 2020 and was the home of multiple Warner Bros. titles, as well as a series of new content, which they ran under the "HBO Original" banner. However, in 2023, Warner Bros. Discovery decided the subscription service needed a makeover, so it dropped the "HBO" from the name, turning into simply Max. Well, Warner Bros. is shaking things up and has revealed the biggest plot twist: starting this summer, Max will officially become HBO Max. Again.
In the press release from May 14, Warner Bros. revealed one good news about the change: it will keep the same app. The 2023 change from HBO Max to Max came with a separate app, forcing subscribers to download and replace the other one.

It’s official: Tom Rothman has signed a multi-year extension of his contract as Chairman and CEO of Sony Pictures’ Motion Picture Group. The deal will currently make Rothman the longest serving film chief in Hollywood, and that includes his run at 20th Century Fox.
Some have wondered whether Rothman would ever retire, and the fact of the matter is that he loves the movie business a tremendous amount. This is seen in him being a steadfast proponent of theatrical, and a believer in its future longevity, not just in franchises, but original movies as well. For Rothman, cinema is about the big swings. If theatrical is going to survive, originality must prevail, and sometimes that means co-financing some projects ensuring that they hit the screen.

Sony’s movie studio doesn’t have to worry about succession — at least not for the foreseeable future.
The company announced Friday that Rothman, 70, has entered into a multiyear extension of his contract as chairman-ceo of Sony Pictures’ Motion Picture Group. The news underscores the close professional bond he has developed with his relatively new boss, Sony Pictures Entertainment president-ceo Ravi Ahuja, who continues to believe that Rothman’s resolute commitment to fiscal responsibility and ability to push creative boundaries and take risks when needed make him the best person for job.
The well-respected Ahuja, 54, was tapped by Sony leaders in Japan to take over for Tony Vinciquerra earlier this year. The Hollywood Reporter has previously reported that Rothman was reupping, but the company made the news official on Friday.

Now past the midway mark, the second season of HBO's The Last of Us is rapidly emerging as something of a case study in review bombing. This is when a section of the audience collectively targets a film or show's scores on aggregator websites; their hate is typically directed towards women and minorities, and inspired by a misguided sense of frustration. The Last of Us Season 2 has been targeted for its translation of certain pivotal moments from the original video game, which itself was made a victim of review bombing when it debuted some years ago. As a result, the new season's audience score on Rotten Tomatoes has been declining at an alarming rate.
The aggregator has taken steps in the past to prevent targeted manipulation of this kind, but they don't seem to be working. The Last of Us Season 2's audience score began in the 60s, but quickly...

Writer-director Andrew DeYoung’s Friendship, featuring Tim Robinson in his first starring film role, boasts a strong supporting cast, including the likes of Paul Rudd, Kate Mara, and Jack Dylan Grazer. The movie's limited May 9 theatrical release, followed by a wide release on May 23, marks the second A24 flick to head to theaters in quick succession for Rudd, with Death of a Unicorn failing to capture audience imagination. Earning just $15 million at the global box office to date, which is only just enough to recoup the film's reported production budget, a 54% on review Rotten Tomatoes solidifies just how poorly Death of a Unicorn has performed.
Thankfully for Rudd, the upcoming Friendship will look to turn the tide on his A24 fortune, with early reviews of the movie on the aforementioned review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes seeing the film earn a huge 91% critic approval rating, almost double the score achieved by Death of a Unicorn.

Chris Hemsworth Shared Ghostbusters Experience For Thor ( Photo Credit – Instagram )
Back in 2016, Chris Hemsworth took a detour from hammer-throwing superhero action to join an all-new kind of team. He signed on for Ghostbusters, the reboot of the iconic ’80s franchise, this time led by an all-female cast including Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones.
Hemsworth wasn’t the main lead of the film, but he still had quite an intriguing character to play. He portrayed Kevin, the group’s dim-witted but lovable receptionist, and on the surface, it might’ve seemed like a step down for a Marvel star. But as it turns out, Ghostbusters taught Hemsworth something crucial, changing the way he approached acting.
In interviews with Esquire, Hemsworth has spoken openly about how much the Ghostbusters’ experience meant to him. For an actor who had been used to carefully sticking to the script, working with...

DirectorPaul Feigshares an optimistic response to whether he would reunite with Melissa McCarthy and Jason Statham for a follow-up to their critically-acclaimed 2015 action comedy. Beginning his career as a stand-up comedian and minor actor in several movies and TV shows, Feig would earn wider recognition for co-creating the cult-classic comedy series Freaks and Geeks, before making his directorial debut with the 2003 drama I Am David. Feig was later enlisted to helm Bridesmaids, beginning one of his most notable creative partnerships to date with McCarthy.
Following Bridesmaids, which saw McCarthy earn widespread recognition for her portrayal of Megan Price, Feig and the actress reunited for another comedic feature with The Heat, as McCarthy portrayed maverick Boston cop Shannon Mullins as she and Sandra Bullock's FBI agent Sarah Ashburn attempt to apprehend a mobster. The pair would also reunite to resurrect Ghostbusters in the 2016 reboot of the classic 1980s franchise, as McCarthy portrayed Abby Yates,...

A few months after the release and subsequent box office success of It Ends with Us, a Colleen Hoover adaptation that survived a barrage of speculation during production, star Blake Lively sued her director and co-actor Justin Baldoni for inappropriate behavior on set. Baldoni has denied any wrongdoing, and has counter-sued Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, alleging defamation. The legal battle is still unfolding, but its fallout was felt last week, when Lively returned with her first film since It Ends with Us, the Prime Video sequel Another Simple Favor. While the movie opened to mostly positive reviews, it would seem like it has become the latest victim of review-bombing.
This is when a group of viewers, usually men, collectively target minority-led projects and manipulate their ratings on aggregator websites such as Rotten Tomatoes. For instance, Another Simple Favor holds a 67% Rotten Tomatoes score, but its audience rating on...

"Heeh! Heeh! Heeh!" With a wheezy laugh and goofy grins, "Revenge of the Nerds" took 1984 by storm. In a theatrical year dominated by Axel Foley, Indiana Jones, Gizmo, the Ghostbusters, and Mr. Miyagi, it was a raunchy college comedy for the older kids, promoting the triumph of the intelligent and the uncool over the strong and the sexy.
Beloved at the time, it has aged poorly in some respects, as it treats sorority girls as prizes to be won, and depicts some decidedly non-consensual intimate moments exploited and played for pranks. For the sequel, which helped launch Bradley Whitford's career, the nerds' hijinks were toned down to a PG-13, and two subsequent films, made for TV, had to deal with even stricter network censorship. There's still occasional talk of a reboot at some point though.

David Benioff and D. B. Weiss created a show so good that it changed lives (figuratively). Game of Thrones is by far one of the greatest series ever created, and yes, we are ignoring the ending; we will not be talking about that today. But let’s dive into the shows Benioff and Weiss created after the GoT craze.
Book adaptations can go wrong very easily. Either writers change too much or find it difficult to deal with many characters. But George R. R. Martin’s incredible book series, A Song of Ice and Fire, was done justice by Benioff and Weiss. Regardless of the critics and opinions of fans, we all can agree that there is no other noir-fantasy show like Game of Thrones, and there never will be.
The iconic duo has continued working together because, no joke, they create awesome content. Without further ado, let’s take...

Trolls will find ways to circumvent the system, no matter how hard platforms try to send them back into their caves. Most recently, they crawled out to spread venom againstThe Last of Us Season 2, based on the acclaimed video game The Last of Us Part II, which suffered similarly upon its release. The first season of the HBO series was critically acclaimed, and it initially seemed like Season 2 was being met with similar warmth. But, despite the positive reviews that it opened to a few weeks ago, the audience reception — or, as one should point out, the troll reaction — has been quite negative.
Whether these folks should be taken seriously is another matter. But the fact that they're able to manipulate audience scores on aggregator platforms, despite the efforts taken to prevent this sort of behavior, is a matter of concern. The Last of Us Season 2's audience score on...

Paul Feig’s 2016 remake of “Ghostbusters” wasn’t even remotely the disastrous insult to comedy that the misogynistic smear campaign of the time would have you believe—though it would be difficult to classify the film as “good” in any case—but the resulting shit-storm of publicity surrounding its release seemed to have left its mark on the one studio director who saw real comedic potential in Melissa McCarthy beyond cheap punchlines about her weight. This much was apparent in the immediate aftermath, when “A Simple Favor” rolled around as Feig’s answer to the internet chauvinists, switching gears and doubling down on the feminine sensibilities for a sweet and sour twist on the domestic mystery film.
A film that aimed for elegant and delightfully twisty melodrama, Feig’s 2018 adaptation of Darcey Bell’s novel read more like an entire season of daytime soap opera condensed into feature length: too...

HBO's Max streaming service is purging hundreds of seasons of television from its catalog.
As noted in an X post from fan page Animation on Max, the streaming giant is slated to cull thousands of hours of content in the coming weeks. The vast majority of these removals come in the form of various reality TV shows, although scripted series are on the chopping block as well. The specific shows leaving the platform have been outlined in a Reddit post in the r/Hbomax subreddit, which notes that these changes will only take place for users within the platform's U.S. region.
The cuts begin on May 1 with Season 1 of Food Network's Mary Makes It Easy, which will be followed by a mass exodus of Discovery content the very next day, including more than forty seasons of various 90 Day Fiance and its various spinoffs. May 2 will also mark...

Once in while, you are in the mood for just some plain old kid-ology. The Bhootnii is so outrageously absurd and so inured to the idiocy that you just can’t help plunging into a giggling fit.
Writer-director Sidhaant Sachdev doesn’t take himself seriously. His wacked-out sense of humour leaves a trail of foolish, ghoulish pranks and antics, all absurd, none the least vulgar. The project wears a bright, bouncy, bubbly, inviting look. In fact, andh-vishwas doesn’t feel blindsided by this. And when push comes to shove, there is little chill and plenty chuckles in the eerie air.
The concept of a spooked-out tree is age-old. The film weaves a screwball yarn around a bevy of party-moded actors who swing into the groove with a sense of unbridled enjoyment. While Sunny Singh is passably good as a love-smitten collegian with two women panting after him (one of them...

Scream 7 started filming at the start of January, and we’ve seen some surprising reports about the slasher sequel as it has made its way through production – with the most surprising and strange news being that Matthew Lillard and Scott Foley, who played Ghostface killers who were killed off in Scream (1996) and Scream 3, respectively, and David Arquette, whose beloved character Dewey lost his life in Scream (2022), are all in the cast. Speaking with Coming Soon, Lillard took a moment to talk about his Scream 7 return, saying that he thinks “people are gonna love it.” Of course, he didn’t reveal any details about what he / his character Stu will be doing in the new movie.
Spyglass and Paramount once intended to make a Scream 7 that would have starred Scream (2022) and Scream VI leads Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega, with Freaky and Happy Death Day director Christopher Landon at the helm.

Spoiler Alert: Details follow for Season 13, Episode 12 of “The Masked Singer,” “Semi-Finals Night,” which aired April 30 on Fox.
The case of Detective Lucky Duck was finally quacked on Wednesday’s episode of Fox’s “The Masked Singer.” Taika Waititi was the latest celebrity to be revealed on Season 13 of Fox’s “The Masked Singer,” playing the mysterious character that had popped up all season long on the show to share clues about the competition’s costumed contestants.
Lucky Duck appeared at the end of this week’s semi-finals episode, and instead of letting the show’s panelists guess his identity, he unmasked himself. And it was a familiar face for one of the show’s panelists: Waititi is husband to the show’s Rita Ora.
“Semi-Finals Night” brought together the final five contestants standing: Group A’s Coral, Group B’s Pearl and Boogie Woogie and Group C’s Mad Scientist Monster.

It's about time to revoke some people's internet privileges. Anybody who targets minorities and women online needs to check themselves anyway. Despite the efforts of certain platforms to prevent review-bombing, trolls still seem to be getting away with it. The latest victim is HBO's The Last of Us, which, like the video game it is based on, has been targeted by individuals who seem to have a problem with women being spotlighted. The second season of the show, which premiered less than a month ago, immediately started attracting negativity from a section of the audience. This was reflected in its fast-declining audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. But trolls can't be contained to just one platform; they've also messed with the show's rating on Metacritic.
The Last of Us Season 2 holds a "must-watch" 81/100 on the aggregator platform, but its user rating is languishing at 4.4. One glance at the user reviews reveals...

One of the most acclaimed shows of its era, The Handmaid's Tale, is currently midway through its sixth and final season. The show premiered in 2017 to excellent reviews, and has largely maintained its quality throughout its run. But the sixth season, which premiered in early April, seems to have annoyed a section of the audience. There's a difference between review-bombing and plain, old bad reviews, but considering the show's themes liberation and equality, it's no wonder that it has become a victim of the former. This is when a group of viewers makes a dedicated effort to manipulate a film or show's rating on an aggregator platform.
In this case, it's the show's Rotten Tomatoes score that's being messed with. While The Handmaid's Tale Season 6 holds a "certified fresh" 94% critics' score on the aggregator website, its audience score is languishing at a poor 51%. One glance at the user reviews makes...

The Hollywood formula is simple: If a movie is good, people instantly assume that it will get a sequel. But some stories are simply better left as one-offs — at least that's what director Paul Feigtold Collider's Steve Weintraub at a recent Q&a for his new film, Another Simple Favor. Feig is an accomplished director, bringing us some of our favorite projects, including several episodes of The Office, the female reboot of Ghostbusters, and the hit comedy Bridesmaids. Late last year, before his directorial debut feature Hell of a Summer slashed into theaters, Finn Wolfhard and his co-director and creative partner Billy Bryk signed on to pen a remake of the '90s horror-comedy cult classic Idle Hands. Considering his first film was an homage to classic teen comedies and slashers, it sounds like the perfect next step for the Stranger Things star, with his Ghostbusters and Saturday Night director Jason Reitman joining him as a producer to reanimate the strange, dark, and supernatural flick. The original, helmed by Rodman Flender and starring horror icon Devon Sawa, followed a teenager whose hand becomes possessed and begins a streak of mass murder, starting with his parents. However, there's more to the B-movie that made Wolfhard want to put his own spin on it with Bryk.

We have found our original owner of the Mockingjay pin. Lionsgate has announced that Mckenna Grace (Ghostbusters: Afterlife) has been cast as Maysilee Donner in the upcoming adaptation of The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. The casting announcement comes just a day after Joseph Zada was cast as Haymitch Abernathy. That announcement also came with the casting of Whitney Peak as Lenore Dove Baird. Maysilee, in the Hunger Games prequel released last month, is one of the other tributes from District 12 opposite Haymitch Abernathy for the 50th Hunger Games or the Second Quarter Quell.

Spoiler Alert: Details follow for Season 13, Episode 11 of “The Masked Singer,” “Soundtrack of My Life Night,” which aired April 23 on Fox.
Well, I’ll be. Edwin McCain, the singer/songwriter behind the 1990s hit song “I’ll Be,” was the latest celebrity to be revealed on Season 13 of Fox’s “The Masked Singer.” On the show’s Wednesday episode, McCain was unmasked as Nessy after performing “Million Reasons,” by Lady Gaga.
“Honestly, I’ve done so many different things in my career, like we’ve landed on an aircraft carrier off the coast of Korea and played for the sailors on board,” he told Variety of why he did the show. “We’ve been to Djibouti, Africa and Bahrain, and we’ve played every state in the US, except for Alaska. If life be an adventure, this certainly falls in that category. I was like, of course, I’ll do that.
