- UK cinema and video versions were complete. The 2003 TCF DVD featured a re-edited print which was changed for legal reasons to remove a genuine telephone number on the "For Rent" sign.
- AMC airing blurs Booger's shirt during the "house fixing" shirt, which says "Gimme Head Till I'm Dead."
- AMC airing cuts the second "Plaid Brothers" joke at the Homecoming Carnival (the "Leave It To Beaver" one.)
- Two versions were filmed of the scene in which Betty pulls her shower curtain aside to find Lewis waiting - a "backed-out" version, to give a more wide view of the room, and a close-up of Lewis' face. While the "backed out" version was used during the actual scene in the movie, the zoomed-in one appears in the end credits during the scene in which Robert Carradine is credited for the Lewis role.
- The Castilian Spanish version was titled "La Revancha de los Novatos", "The Revenge of the Freshmans". The word "Nerd" was changed to "Freshman", and that was kept for the next movies too.
- The version that airs on VH1 Classic cuts out most of the more profane language, blurs the word "head" on Booger's "Gimme Head Til I'm Dead" shirt, blurs the jocks' butts during the mooning sequence, cuts the good majority of the "watching the Pis on the cameras" scene, including Booger's infamous "We've got bush!" line. However, unlike most other edited for TV versions, the phrase "god damn" is uncensored.
- The version of the film shown on Comedy Central cuts out a good chunk of the "roll call" scene, including the "why do they call you Booger" dialogue and a basketball landing in the bunk area.
- The film was cut by the Censor Board of India for half a minute to gain a 'U/A' (parental guidance) rating for cinema exhibition in India in 1987. (Certification No.: 468)
- Early video releases include a scene where the Nerds are actually shown walking to the abandoned house, with Louis leading the way holding the "For Sale" sign.
