The majority of the series was filmed at night, encompassing about 800 days of nighttime shooting. Scott Hylands recalls being glad when his character was not the central figure of certain episodes because this allowed him to sleep more.
Although set in the United States many scenes were shot on Yonge Street in Toronto and many landmarks such as Sam the Record Man store and newspaper boxes selling the Toronto Star can be seen.
