  • Ingrid (1984)

If you're looking for a detailed, very thought out look at actress Ingrid Bergman then you might want to look elsewhere. If you just want a very good overview of her career then this documentary from Gene Feldman is pretty much that. Through film clips, newspaper headlines, newsreel footage and interviews with friends and co-workers, INGRID manages to fill up a hours worth of information and I think for the most part people will be happy. Those who don't know who Bergman is will certainly get to look at the highlights of her film career as well as the scandal that pretty much forced her out of America. Fans who already know about her personal life and film career will enjoy seeing all the footage here in one place. There's a lot of archival footage but Anthony Quinn is one person who speaks on camera about working with the legendary actress. Again, at such a short running time there's no question that the film doesn't dig into everything but it's still worth watching.
  • Gene Feldman recipe makes,at the first sigh, the things real familiar . Memories of colegues, scenes from movies, descriptions of the moments of career, confirmations of theexpectations of the viewer. But, something remains special- her. A sort of freshness, result of deep honesty to herrself is the main virtue of this documentary.
  • This Hollywood Legends documentary on Ingrid Bergman features home movies, stills, film clips, interviews with co-stars, a newsreel interview with Bergman upon her return to America after the Italian period, and Pia Lindstrom accepting Bergman's posthumous Emmy for A Woman Called Golda.

Of note is her somewhat frightening look in the Swedish version of Intermezzo, how her "no make-up" Hollywood screen test has her wearing lipstick, how unintentionally funny her hyper-emotional acting is in Rage in Heaven, how dull she is in Stromboli, how funny she is in The Visit despite Anthony Quinn's claim that she seduced him into letting her play the role in a more glamorous fashion, and a scene from Autumn Sonata in the English dubbed version.
