Over the course of one night, a beaten down L.A. engineer accidentally meets, falls for and tries to help a beautiful jewel thief on the run from some extremely dangerous people.
John Landis' first film to feature his trademark array of cameos from other filmmakers. In the case of this film, it has been speculated that this was a show of support, in the wake of the fatal accident that occurred while Landis was directing his segment of Twilight Zone: The Movie (1983). This was his first film after the accident.
