| Long Forgotten HIgh Quality - And Quirky - Action TV Show
How times have changed. Well, maybe not so much. Carl Weathers was riding on a raft of strong action-adventure movie roles, and it was revealed that he'd be helming a TV show in the new season. We awaited it with anticipation. From the pilot episode on, it just ran. Action. Adventure. Intrigue. And Carl was up to the challenge.
Then, a romance developed on-screen between him and his white female co-star.
My wife and I exchanged an "Oh, boy...that's not gonna go over too well.." look. Soon after, the series was cancelled. Six episodes, I think. Note to 80's black male TV actors: stay away from white women. For that matter, same message today.
It was a good series without a bad episode. It also had the rare distinction of having not one but two male guest co-stars who had done X rated movies: Joe d'Allessandro and Sonny Landham. The episode with the chase between Carl and Joe was incredible for its era. Carl ended up going back to being the featured actor playing The Black Guy most of the time. He had a lot more talent than that.
