The popularity of the "Green Ghost" character from the first Ghostbusters film (and the memorable scene in which he slimes Bill Murray) was such that the producers of the cartoon series decided to include him in the cast and gave him the name, "Slimer". In turn, the popularity of Slimer was such that he was included in the film sequel, as well as the 2016 reboot.
Remember there could be giant ants, like in Santa Clara, in 1950!
Peter Venkman: Not funny.
In "Slimer Streak" (#5.21), Peter says he know nothing about trains, contrary to "Last Train to Oblivion" (#2.52) which centered on Peter's obsession with trains.
The german dubbed version has a slightly different audio-track for the opening sequence. While the theme song and the sound effects have been kept intact, reactions for the main characters have been added (e.g. Venkman yells when falling off his chair; Janine utters a disgusted "Eww!" when being kissed by Slimer). At the end of the sequence, when the Ghostbusters are charging their proton guns, they say "We ain't afraid of no ghosts!", and at the very end, Venkman says "I ain't afraid of no ghosts." when the title is shown.
