The original title is Amantide - Scirocco. The word "amant" means "lover" in French. The suffix "-ide" is added to words to form names of chemical components like oxygen and oxide. Scirocco is a type of hot wind, often dusty or rainy, blowing from North Africa across the Mediterranean Sea to southern Europe. So the literal translation of the title is approximately - The Lover Chemical - Hot Desert Wind.
Fiona Gélin tells of her ordeal during the shooting of this film: "In fact, there were nude scenes that were hidden from me and that I had to play. The result was on the verge of an erotic film. I felt betrayed, completely disoriented and I broke down. I was ashamed of myself. This led to a depression and a month in a psychiatric hospital."
