Chicago filming locations included a dingy diner beneath the tracks of the El train to an elegant restaurant in Old Town to Chicago's Area 3 Detective Division police station, where the crucial interrogation scene was shot. The city's famous --and long since vanished --stockyards were designed and constructed from scratch by Patrizia von Brandenstein's art department alongside a deserted railroad crossing, and thirty head of cattle were shipped in for the scene shot there.

When Eddie and Michel are escaping from the two Deveneux fishermen, Eddie knocks the door off the car while backing up. When the door comes off, Michel is no longer in the car. In the next shot she is in the passenger seat again.
