An aspiring teenage cartoonist and his friends come to the aid of a singer trying to save her family property from developers.
Joel Murray stated in an A.V. Club interview that he did not think he would be cast as George Calamari because Jeremy Piven was auditioning for the same role and was best friends with John Cusack. To Murray's surprise, Piven was cast as Ty instead and he got the part.

When the Ferrari is brought in for a tune up, Egg starts a chainsaw to cut it in half, the saw is running but the chain is not moving. However Some Older chainsaws have a safety brake and you have to push a button to engage the chain ( this button was gotten rid of due to its ability to cause a blister after an hour of use but still a chain saw maker used it up to the mid 90s)
The film begins with the Warner Brothers logo, which then morphs into a cartoon version. The WB logo opens up like a pair of doors to reveal a cackling cartoon character. Zoom in on his huge mouth to reveal the words ONE CRAZY SUMMER.
