One of the classics
Another underrated film, which has joined the likes of Transformers the movie in the category of underappreciated classics.

Like Transformers the movie, A Chipmunk Adventure has a cartoon series backing it up, so fans go into the theater already knowing most of the characters. However, the film stands on it's own and does not rely on any of the cartoon episodes at all. The story centers around a race around the world between the Chipmunks and the Chipettes. Simple enough. I am glad to see an animated film that isn't another prince and princess, fall in love rehash.

Throughout the show are many memorable moments as well as a variety of songs that anyone could sing along to. I remember as a child loving the "Boys/Girls of Rock n' Roll" song, singing it over and over. I am sure many kids of today would do the same if they have the chance to see this film. There is no sex, minimal violence, and lots of fun.

Trivia

Production of the movie became too time consuming, and with the deadline for the completed project fast approaching, several scenes in the original script had to be re-written to make them simpler for the animators to animate (including the sacrificing scene), or cut from the script completely, thus resulting in a much shorter movie with fewer locations The Chipmunks and Chipettes actually visit.

Quotes

David Seville: The taxi's gonna be here any minute, I'm not even packed. Has anyone seen my tie?
Simon Seville: You're wearing it, Dave.
David Seville: Thanks, Simon.

Goofs

While singing "Rock 'n' Roll" the Chipettes walk up some steps, and the Chipmunks do the same. Viewed from the front of the Chipmunks, the Chipmunks walk up the step in this order, from left to right: Simon, Alvin, Theodore. In the next shot, Simon and Theodore switch places.

Crazy Credits

Siri Dharma Galliano(as Siri D. Galliano) receives a credit as "Chipmunk Masseuse."

Alternate Versions

The theatrical and Lorimar video releases have The Samuel Goldwyn Company logo at the opening, and below the copyright notice at the closing, the Universal and Paramount releases obscure the SGC logo and keep the closing logo, and current releases have no SGC logos at all, to the point of removing it from the credits, and only displaying the Bagdasarian Productions credit and logo.
