get ready to wag your tale
I was only 12 years old when this movie was released in theaters. A mere year later, I tried to watch it, and I just couldn't get into it. I thought it was banged up, even at that time, that a kid would dump his girlfriend for his mother. At the time of release, this was the only MILF film at its time. Come to think of it, I think this is the first MILF movie ever made. If there was, I am not aware of it. ( I disregard the mild flirtations of films in the past, as this was the first one to focus fully on the issue.) By the way, if you want to know what a MILF is, have a look at urbandictionary.com, I can't tell you what it is here. 30 years later, I finally brought myself to watch it. Was I impressed? No. Still think it's banged up. Totally! However, for what it is, I have to admit, at the core of this, it does have heart. It at least has that, and its not the worst romance movie ever made. A bit sad at times, in fact, altogether, I think this is a very sad movie, despite it being uplifting from time to time. Comedy I cannot call it, I didn't really laugh at too many scenes. ( The sex scene with the fire ants helms the film. That's wild!) My complaint is with the ending, although I have to admit, I wouldn't know how to end this mess, either. Seriously dated, and the acting is a bit over the top, but I have to hand it to them for being creative with the material. There's not much plot, I mean, when mom is sober, she wants him to find a gal his own age. Temptation lurks around every corner. He wants to reel her in, she wants to push him away. Will they be together forever? I added a star for the film makers knowing not to make this too raunchy...the feel of it, well, its just not that kind of film. As I said, it has heart. Maybe even soul. Oh, who am I kidding, the tiger in the tale? IT HAS SOUL! 6 out of 10 stars. Rock on, 80's!
