As the Codename Red nears its supposed launch, new details about Assassin’s Creed Hexe surface. This game is aimed at being released sometime in 2026. New reports suggest that this new Ubisoft title will follow a more linear path than previous AC titles in the franchise.
The upcoming Infinity platform, where Ubisoft is preparing for new releases, will reportedly host this new entry. Set in the Holy Roman Empire with some witchcraft involved, this title could be a real game-changer for the saga. Only one female protagonist will appear in Hexe.

According to new reports from Insider Gaming, Hexe is going to be very different from other titles in the franchise. Ubisoft is aiming to make this entry more linear and will avoid making 150+ hours of secondary content that makes no sense.

God of War Ragnarok was a massive tentpole title for PlayStation, having sold over 15 million units since launch. The Aaa game was lauded for its stellar production quality, nearing on Hollywood territory.
However, game director Eric Williams holds very different thoughts on whether games should be more like movies, and in an era of increasing Star Wars and Marvel presence in the games industry, it’s an opinion worth considering.

Stagnation is a real problem in the games industry, and Williams says variety is the only answer.
In an interview with Washington Post after the 2022 Game Awards ceremony, Williams stressed the importance of having different types of games, similar to the various options available in books, music, and films. He used the diverse range of games showcased at the ceremony as an example:

Ubisoft is currently hard at work on multiple Assassin’s Creed titles. Two of them have already been confirmed; one is Codename Red, which is apparently set in Japan. The other more prominent one is Assassin’s Creed: Codename Hexe, which is set in central Europe. It would supposedly be set during the 16th-century Holy Roman Empire.
It would entail a story that would be crossed over with the mass hysteria during which around 80,000 people were unjustly executed for the crime of witchcraft. There’s no hint as to what the game’s protagonist would look like or who that would be. Fans are guessing that it would probably be a witch. Now a leak suggests that this game would be a scary experience for anyone who dares to play it.

/Film has the CinemaCon scoop here for you directly from the reporting of our own Ryan Scott, served up shiny and chrome. First, "Furiosa" director George Miller took the stage alongside main stars Chris Hemsworth and Anya Taylor-Joy, where he revealed that work on "Furiosa" was completed just last week. Whereas the original 2015 "Mad Max: Fury Road" took place over the course of three total days, Miller emphasized that the prequel film covers the period of 16 to 18 years.
Of course, Miller had nothing but high praise for his leading lady, stepping in for Charlize Theron in this prequel film. Hilariously enough, he described his casting of Taylor-Joy as motivated by the fact that she's exactly the type of person he'd enjoy hanging with during an actual apocalypse. We only think he was joking. He went even further, however, describing the necessity of casting someone who could stand up to the...

Ubisoft claims that Assassin’s Creed Red, one of the franchise’s most ambitious games, will finally take place in Japan. This is one of the two announced projects with codenames, with Assassin’s Creed Jade, that apparently will be delayed until 2025.
Thanks to new leaks, there are new details about key changes that will come to Assassin’s Creed Red, like fewer markers; apparently, the game will reward exploration like Elden Ring. FromSoftware had to put in five years of hard work behind it and when Elden Ring came, the game became an instant hit. Elden Ring’s open-world gameplay was compared by fans and developers to that of other iconic Aaa open-world games created by Western developers like the Horizon series, and the Assassin’s Creed series.

What a day. What a lovely day! While we are still obsessing over the trailer for "The Acolyte" and the sight of a bunch of lightsabers igniting at once, George Miller slammed down his fist and reminded us that whenever George Miller has something to show it deserves our entire attention.
After the first trailer for "Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga" teased a cacophony of action and madness in our return to the wasteland, the latest trailer doubles down on the madness but ups the ante by focusing on the "saga" part of the trailer. Indeed, even if the synopsis wants you to believe this is a simple yet still bombastic story like "Fury Road," the trailer makes it clear this is much bigger in scope.
The new trailer provides a bit more of the story, showing how Anya Taylor-Joy's Furiosa was taken from her home in The Green Place,...

The new threat lurks around the players in Helldivers 2 for which they might not be ready yet. Automatons and Terminids have already made their in-game lives a living hell (which is also kind of fun) and now a new enemy is being teased. We are not talking about the third faction Illuminate but an addition to the available factions in the game.
Not too many of those tin cans are walking down there on planets like the Terminids that are spreading faster than the rabbit does. However, their capability to bring utter pandemonium can make even the fascist insectoids run for their lives. Meanwhile, this new member of the family might be the toughest they, and the Helldivers, have witnessed.

New splatter-comedy Destroy All Neighbors has more on its mind than bad neighbors run amok. Director Josh Forbes, working from the screenplay by Charles Pieper and Jared Logan, crafts a Frank Henenlotter-inspired comedy full of guts and rock ambition. Nestled at the center is a sugary-sweet story of an artist learning to get out of his own way. While that means it has all the right ingredients in place for an infectiously scrappy horror comedy, it might be too narratively streamlined for its own good.
William Brown (Jonah Ray Rodrigues) dreams of prog-rock greatness. He works as a sound engineer at a low-rent music studio by trade and spends the rest of his waking hours trying to crack his magnum opus that’ll earn him a place in rock Valhalla. Well, almost. William frequently finds himself distracted by everything around him, especially his neighbors. Even more so with the...

There are a lot of elements that make "Rick and Morty" unique from the average animated sitcom, but a big one is just how common it is for us to watch its titular characters die. Sure, shows like "The Simpsons" have no trouble murdering its characters in its non-canon anthology episodes, but "Rick and Morty" will casually have Rick get his head crushed with a rock in the middle of the season 4 premiere. Rick was fine then, of course -- his consciousness was uploaded into another Rick's vat in an alternate universe -- but the sight of our main character dying so brutally is still shocking.
Beyond how often we've seen our main characters die, this show's multiverse premise means we've also seen near-identical versions of them die a millions times already. Most of the Citadel-centric episodes have forced us to watch all sorts of horrific deaths for other Ricks and Mortys,...

George Miller wrote down the saga of Furiosa, the greatest survivor of his twisted vision of the apocalypse, more than 20 years ago. And now after concluding her story—at least for the time being—he is going back to its beginning with Furiosa, one of the most anticipated blockbuster epics of 2024. And at last it has a trailer. Oh, what a day, what a lovely day!
Filmed over six months last year, and across vast stretches of Australian deserts and outback, Furiosa (as the trailer will explain in all caps) is set 45 years before the events of Fury Road and the other Mad Max films and will track how a young child stolen from the Green Place of Many Mothers will rebuild her body and soul into a legendary driver of the Citadel, and one of the Wasteland’s fiercest warriors. As Deadline revealed exclusively on Monday, Netflix‘s hit series Wednesday will be moving locations, with the upcoming second season filming in Ireland.
While attending the Season 5 premiere of FX’s Fargo, which he executive produces, Wednesday executive producer Steve Stark spoke to Deadline about the decision to relocate from Romania, where Season 1 was shot, to Ireland.
“Romania was an amazing place to shoot creatively, but challenging in a lot of ways,” he said.
As Deadline reported, the Balkan country presented logistical challenges, with speculation starting soon after production had wrapped that, if the series would go to a second season, it would likely film elsewhere.
Stark confirmed that by the time they’d finished Season 1, ” we were going to movie it out to there.”
“London or Ireland were two choices,” he revealed. “The main reason for me was I shot 113 episodes of Vikings in Ireland. Love Ireland. We got...

‘Thor: Love & Thunder’ marks the latest addition to the ‘Thor’ film series, showcasing Thor’s comeback post-‘Endgame’ alongside a diverse cast of characters, including a well-known comic villain. Despite its anticipation, the movie fell short of expectations due to awkward humor and an underutilized storyline.
However, a standout element emerged with Jane Foster’s Mighty Thor, whose poignant journey battling Gorr the God Butcher took a tragic turn, culminating in her death and entrance into Valhalla. Now, reliable leaker and The Cosmic Circus writer Alex P. hints at Jane’s potential return on X.

‘Thor: Love & Thunder’ is the latest installment in the ‘Thor’ movie series. Despite the movie featuring the grand return of Thor following ‘Endgame’ and a grand cast of characters, including a fairly-known villain from the comics, the movie wasn’t as successful as it was hoped, mostly due to its cringy humor and waste of a potentially magnificent storyline.
Still, one good thing came out of the movie, and that was Jane Foster’s Mighty Thor. As a reminder, Jane is sick with cancer, and in a last-ditch attempt to save her life, she starts wielding Mjolnir but gets more than she bargained for as she goes on on an epic adventure with Thor battling against Gorr the God Butcher, who has beef to settle with pretty much every god in the universe. But, the movie doesn’t have a cheery ending as its overall atmosphere seems to be,...

There’s a little bit of something for everyone in the Assassin’s Creed series. No franchise has so effectively blended stealth and action, while also occasionally throwing in completely random new twists like naval battles and multiplayer so well for so long. And all of this is in the context of a story that takes place across thousands of years and multiple, very different time periods.
But which Assassin’s Creed games rank among the best of the best? While no title in the main series is considered to be especially bad, there’s certainly a significant difference in quality among the 13 mainline games released so far. As the series looks to return to its roots with the new Assassin’s Creed Mirage, we thought we would first look back at the rest of the series and rank the mainline Assassin’s Creed games from worst to best.

The Assassin’s Creed series has come a long way from its days as a concept to reboot The Prince of Persia franchise. Assassin’s Creed’s first outing took players to the Middle East, but subsequent entries have explored London, France, and other historic locations across the globe. The latest entry, Assassin’s Creed Mirage, returns to the Middle East, but just because it’s retreading somewhat familiar territory doesn’t mean players will see many familiar faces.
As a quick reminder, on October 5, 2023, Assassin’s Creed Mirage was released for PC, Xbox Series X, and PlayStation 5. The game stars Basim Ibn Ishaq (who is not-so-secretly the reincarnation of the Isu Loki) in his early days as a member of the Assassins, long before he met the main character of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Eivor. Unlike more recent entries, Mirage returns to the franchise’s stealth-based roots and restricts players to one city,...

Sean Penn, whose Volodymyr Zelenskyy documentary “Superpower” recently launched on Paramount+, will be on the iconic stage of Cannes’s Grand Auditorium later this month — but it won’t be for a movie.
The Oscar winner is set to attend Mipcom, the international TV conference, alongside Matthew Fox (“Lost”) and Kick Gurry (“Edge of Tomorrow”) to discuss their wartime satire series “C*A*U*G*H*T” as part of a Media Mastermind Keynote on Oct. 18. Penn, who stars and serves as executive producer on the show, will participate in a panel discussion with Fox and Curry. Sean Penn, Matthew Fox, and Kick Gurry are heading to Mipcom Cannes to talk about their satirical comedy series C*A*U*G*H*T.
In a major coup for the TV market, they’ll discuss the Australian show in an exclusive Media Mastermind Keynote on Wednesday, October 18 at 12pm local time in France, alongside distributor Fremantle.
Two-time Academy Award winner actor Penn, who serves as an executive producer (and acts as himself in the series), will feature in the panel in at the Palais des Festivales’ Grand Auditorium, alongside Fox (Lost), and Curry (Edge of Tomorrow), moderated by TV and film critic Rhianna Dhillon.
The session will feature footage and an ‘In Conversation with’ segment featuring Penn, Fox and Gurry, bringing insights about approach taken for the series, which explores themes of identity, fame, and the absurdity of the viral age and looks to comedically deconstructs the intellectual ideas humanity faces.

I haven’t really enjoyed the recent Assassin’s Creed games (aka the “RPG trilogy” that began with 2017’s Origins). By all accounts from those who do enjoy them, they are fine games that obviously benefited from exceptional production values and a series of eventual gameplay refinements. However, they are also open-world action titles with a ton of things to do and light RPG elements. In other words, they bear a pretty strong resemblance to the basic formula that countless modern Triple-a games follow to varying degrees of effectiveness.
At a time when more and more pieces of major entertainment must be familiar enough to not potentially offend the palates and sensibilities of a massive global audience, “basic” has become the new “bad.” Years worth of too much entertainment that could best be described as “ok” has greatly lowered the value of that description. You start to crave something that breaks...

When the original Assassin’s Creed first hit store shelves in 2007, it was unlike anything else you could play on consoles that holiday season. Sixteen years later, we take that game’s winning combination of stealth gameplay, melee combat, parkour traversal, and open-world historical setting—all somehow also wrapped up in a compelling sci-fi thriller—for granted. But that’s because so much of the open-world formula the original title helped pioneer has become the standard language of modern gaming.
It’s why, in recent years, Assassin’s Creed publisher Ubisoft worked to freshen things up with a trilogy of games that emphasized loot-driven RPG mechanics over the original’s more linear, stealth-focused approach. But while those three installments—Origins, Odyssey, and most recently, Valhalla—were undeniable success stories for the franchise, Ubisoft is now going...

Swedish Viking metal veterans Amon Amarth have released a new music video for “Heidrun” (“goat” in Norse mythology), a song that appears on their latest studio album, The Great Heathen Army. Additionally, they’ve unveiled the four-song Heidrun EP featuring three versions of the tune, including a “goat remix” with actual goat vocals.
Frontman Johan Hegg explained the mythological story behind “Heidrun” in a press release, stating, “Heidrun is an interesting mythological character, it’s a goat that stands on the roof of Valhalla eating the leaf of the big tree Lärad.”
He continued, “The milk that she gives is the honey/mead that the warriors in Valhalla drink each night. The lyrics themselves are both about Vikings travelling the world but also metaphorically what it is to be a touring musician.”
Amon Amarth recently kicked off US tour with Ghost. Find a recap and photo gallery of the opening night here,...

This article contains minor spoilers for "The Super Mario Bros. Movie."For decades, I've played Nintendo games. They weren't the only ones I enjoyed, of course. I've spent more hours than I like to calculate on darker games like "Ghosts of Tsushima," "Assassin's Creed: Odyssey" and "Valhalla." They're a blast, and they let me indulge in my history geek side. However, these aren't games I play to forget the world for a bit. They're very much rooted in the world, full of complex emotions and situations, moral questions about the decisions you make, and full of a lot of dismembering and brutal death.
When I play a Nintendo game, specifically one set around Mario, Donkey Kong, or any of the denizens of the Mushroom Kingdom, I'm not playing it to go deep into a world gone by or murder a whole lot of enemy fighters. I'm playing it to relax.
