Signs that Warner Bros DC Studios is very serious about its standalone Clayface movie even though it doesn’t have a director or star yet: The studio is given the movie written by Mike Flanagan a Sept. 11, 2026 theatrical release. That’s the famed post Labor Day gold mine weekend for Warner Bros with such movies as the It, The Nun and Beetlejuice franchises.
Producing is DC co-bosses James Gunn and Peter Safran as well as The Batman filmmaker Matt Reeves and Lynn Harris. EP is Chantal Nong. Doctor Sleep filmmaker Flanagan is reportedly conceiving Clayface as a horror-thriller-tragedy. He won’t be painted as a villain which has been his reputation, notoriously a villain to Batman.
Clayface got his DC introduction as part of Detective Comics #40 in June of 1940. The original Clayface was a moderately successful actor who adopted the identity of a character he’d portrayed in a horror pic after turning to crime.

Cillian Murphy has become a major member of Hollywood's A-list lately, in no small part thanks to his leading role in Christopher Nolan's blockbuster Best Picture-winner "Oppenheimer." In truth, however, Murphy has been delivering on screen for decades now, working with some of cinema's best directors along the way. Unfortunately, more than 20 years later, the movie is all but impossible for most people to watch.

Coralie’s Fargeat’s “The Substance,” “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” and “The Deliverance” led the 12th annual Make-Up Artists & Hair Stylists Guild Award nominations.
The body horror of Fargeat’s “The Substance” resonated with the make-up and hair stylist guild with three nominations. Special effects artist Pierre Olivier Persin explained that Fargeat wanted to use practical effects, instead of digital CGI, where possible. 70-80% of what was seen in the film was practical, including the MonstroElisaSue creation which features at the end.

Moana 2 Box Office (Worldwide): Beats Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire’s Global Haul( Photo Credit – Instagram )
Moana 2 is unstoppable at the worldwide box office. With its second weekend collections, it has already beaten Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire’s global haul. It is also awfully close to hitting a huge milestone globally. It has been making news since its release by breaking almost every record set by Frozen II. Scroll below for the deets.
For the uninitiated, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire was released in March and is the fifth film in the MonsterVerse franchise. It featured Rebecca Hall, Brian Tyree Henry, Dan Stevens, Kaylee Hottle, Alex Ferns, and Fala Chen in crucial roles. The film’s production budget was between $135 and $150 million, and it is one of the top 10 highest-grossing films of the year. It collected $196.35 million at the domestic box office and $571.75 million worldwide.

The internationalisation of U.S. awards continues apace with a bumper crop of nominations for Cannes and Venice at the Golden Globes.
My colleague Pete Hammond pointed out yesterday that Cannes must be happy with 20 nominations for films that premiered at the festival, including Emilia Perez, All We Imagine As Light and The Substance.
Cannes has confirmed to me this morning that it’s even better than that and it’s a whopping 28 nominations in total for films that launched on the Riviera. That’s a record. Recent record, at least. It’s a significant hike on previous nominations and points to a firm trend in growing appreciation for international movies at the big U.S. awards.
Cannes scored 20 nominations in 2024, nine in 2023, five for 2022, only one in 2021 and twelve for 2020.

Danny Elfman isn't sure 'The Nightmare Before Christmas' belongs on Broadway. The 71-year-old composer wrote the score for and played the role of Jack Skellington in Tim Burton's 1993 cult classic but unlike other adaptations from the same sort of spooky genre like 'The Addams Family' and 'Beetlejuice', he is not convinced that the movie would do well on The Great White Way. He exclusively told Bang Showbiz: "I don't know, it's like, usually, Broadway adaptions of stuff to me, get real hokey, and I, it's just, unfortunately, I'm not going to be involved in that. "Whatever they decide, whatever. I think Tim has kind of resisted that for a long time. But will he decide to do that with Disney? Who knows? but I have very mixed feelings about the results of a Broadway show. "But Danny is just about take to the stage at...

In the long lineage of badass super-smart feminist women in cinema, Geena Davis is one of the greatest. She's weathered a long career in Hollywood, which can be hazardous for women (especially as they age), and has still come out on top. With her recent appearance as Stacy in Zoë Kravitz's ferocious directorial debut "Blink Twice," Davis has reminded us all that she's one of the best to ever do it, bringing some unnerving levity to the film's deeply claustrophobic tone. She can tell an entire story just with her eyes and is an incredible performer, but for many years she was all but absent from the silver screen. So, what happened? How did one of Hollywood's biggest stars just sort of disappear from the limelight for nearly two decades, only appearing in the occasional small movie role or on an ill-fated television series?

The confetti has hardly settled on last night's British Independent Film Awards, but — never an organisation to be knowingly upstaged — the Hollywood Foreign Press today unveiled the nominees for the 2025 Golden Globes. And while the GGs (as nobody calls them) may have lost some of their shine in recent years, the noms can be a decent bellwether for the Oscars and BAFTAs yet to come. With that being said, this year the pack is being led by Jacques Audiard's trans coming-of-age drama-cum-musical gangland thriller Emilia Pérez (10 nominations), Brady Corbet's monumental deconstruction of the American Dream The Brutalist (7 nominations), and Edward Berger's papal conspiracy thriller Conclave (6 nominations).
All three of the above are up for top honours including Best Motion Picture — Drama (and Comedy/Musical for Emilia Pérez) and Best Director, sharing space with the likes of A Complete Unknown, Dune: Part Two, Challengers, Wicked, Anora, and The Substance...

The nominations for the 2025 Golden Globe Awards are out, and they are interesting if you're into that kind of thing. On the film side of things, Netflix and A24 were the big winners with 13 and 12 nominations respectively. Netflix also clinched the most TV nominations with 23, well ahead of second best finisher HBO/Max, which had nine total nominations.
The musical crime comedy Emilia Pérez got the most nominations of any movie with 10, ahead of The Brutalist with seven and Conclave with six. Congrats to those movies, although you may have noticed that none of them were particularly huge hits. Tentpole movies like Wicked, Gladiator II and Dune: Part Two got only eight nominations between them. Dune: Part Two star Josh Brolin said he would quit acting if director Denis Villeneuve didn't get a nomination for helming the film. Tim Burton’s movies are usually made with much love, care, and attention to detail which several directors do not usually show. However, his latest flick may have made a complete mess of things.

Ghouls, long faces, comedy, and equal amounts of horror usually create a Tim Burton film. His latest flick Beetlejuice Beetlejuice (or simply Beetlejuice 2) was a chaotic mess of all of these things, but somewhere, something was missing.
Tim Burton Failed To Explain One Thing in Beetlejuice 2
It was 1988 when Tim Burton released the iconic film Beetlejuice. Starring Michael Keaton in the role of Beetlejuice alongside Winona Ryder as Lydia Deetz and several others.

We all have our hobbies and favorite interests when we were teenagers, and so does Winona Ryder’s Lydia Deetz in Tim Burton’s original 1988 Beetlejuice film. She loved photography, and many fans resonated with her character’s fondness for creative art, but this was seemingly absent in the sequel.

Other characters showcased their different interests in the follow-up film, but Lydia’s arc seemed to focus on the Ghost House TV program and her complicated relationship with Jenna Ortega’s Astrid.
Beetlejuice 3 Needs to Bring Back This Iconic Lydia Deetz Hobby
After the commercial success of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, many fans have been wondering if Tim Burton plans to make another sequel so much as to wrap the story into a trilogy. It is only fitting given the open ending that leaves a possibility of a continuation; however, the director once told THR: “Well,...

Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is now available to stream exclusively on Max as of Friday, December 6th.
An American Sign Language (Asl) version of the film is also available to stream on Max in the U.S. and Europe, along with a Língua Brasileira de Sinais (Libras) version in Brazil.
Arriving 36 years after Tim Burton’s original Beetlejuice film, the sequel reunites original cast members Michael Keaton (playing Mr. Juice himself), Winona Ryder (Lydia), and Catherine O’Hara (Delia) — plus new additions Jenna Ortega, Willem Dafoe (ghost detective Wolf Jackson), Monica Bellucci (Beetlejuice’s wife), and more.
In the film, Ortega’s Astrid doesn’t seem to care for her mother too much, nor does she believe in ghosts — that is, until she stumbles upon the model of Winter River and the portal to the Afterlife is accidentally opened. Lydia then calls on an old friend to save her daughter.

Today is the day Beetlejuice Beetlejuice starts streaming exclusively on Max. It’s a Warner Bros movie, so a Warner Bros streamer gets it — makes sense, right? Not everything from the same studio can be a winner, though, and this means the movie WB released after that one is next…one of the year’s biggest flops, Joker: Folie A Deux. After Todd Philips hypothetical “what if the Joker happened in real life” movie became a smash hit, a sequel seemed inevitable, but what would it be about? It ended with Arthur Peck going to jail and why would they let him out? The answer is, they don’t…in a curveball no one was ready for, Joker: Folie A Deux is a half-musical with the songs taking place in Joker’s head. Joaquin Phoenix returns in the lead role, with no one less than Lady Gaga playing Harley Quinn,...

The Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films has just announced the nominations for the 52nd Annual Saturn Awards, which honor the best in sci-fi and fantasy on TV. All the usual suspects are here: Dune: Part Two walked away with the most nominations at 14, including for Best Science Fiction Film. Denis Villeneuve got a nomination for directing. Stars Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Josh Brolin, Austin Butler and Rebecca Ferguson all received acting nods. The nominations must flow.
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice nabbed 13 nominations. Like, Dune: Part Two, that movie was produced by Warner Bros. Discovery, which got more noms than any other studio. Will that make up for the hot flat flop that was Joker: Folie à Deux? Probably not, but it's nice.
Meanwhile, Deadpool & Wolverine took home 10 nominations. On the TV side of things, the big winner was Amazon's Fallout show, which received five nods: Best Science Fiction Television Series,...

It took thirty-six years, but director Tim Burton finally got around to making a sequel to his 1988 hit Beetlejuice – and with that sequel, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, having made over $450 million at the global box office, it wouldn’t be surprising to hear that Warner Bros. wants another sequel. Burton has said not to expect Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Beetlejuice from him… but perhaps he could be persuaded. We’ll have to wait and see. In the meantime, Burton has completely ruled out the idea of making sequels to two other films on his résumé, Edward Scissorhands and The Nightmare Before Christmas.
Speaking with IndieWire, Burton said, “There are certain films I don’t want to make a sequel to. I didn’t want to make a sequel to (Edward Scissorhands) because it felt like a one-off thing. I didn’t want to have a sequel for The Nightmare Before Christmas because it also felt like a one-off thing.

There’s a great scene in 1993’s classic time-loop comedy Groundhog Day, where Bill Murray’s character experiences a near-perfect day with Andie MacDowell’s Rita, but messes up right at the end, missing his chance to kiss her. On his next loop, he tries to recreate their perfect day for a second chance and fails miserably because all his efforts feel forced and desperate. That’s pretty much what it feels like to watch Tim Burton’s long-awaited Beetlejuice sequel, which tries extremely hard to remind you why you loved the original 1988 movie, but ends up feeling like an incoherent mess, frantically shouting, “Remember this bit? What about this bit?”
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice joins the characters 36 years after the events of the first movie.

With just one movie, Tim Burton and Johnny Depp felt destined to work together, bringing a unique presence of gothic oddity to the screen. But it obviously wouldn’t just be Edward Scissorhands that they collaborated on. No, they would have a total of eight big screen pairings. But the most recent was 2012’s Dark Shadows, with Burton having done five movies without Depp since. So what gives? Will we ever see another Tim Burton / Johnny Depp movie?
Tim Burton is confident that there will be a place for Johnny Depp in a future film of his, telling IndieWire, “Well, I’m sure there will be [another collaboration].” But Burton was careful to note that his reason for not working with an actor is never personal. “I never feel like, oh, I’m going to use this and that actor. It usually has to be based on the project I’m working on.

Tim Burton doesn't want to make an 'Edward Scissorhands' sequel because it "felt like a one-off thing".The 66-year-old director helmed the gothic fantasy film - which was released in 1990 - and although it proved to be a huge success, Tim insists he doesn't have any interest in making a sequel to 'Edward Scissorhands'.The acclaimed filmmaker told IndieWire: "There are certain films I don’t want to make a sequel to."I didn’t want to make a sequel to that because it felt like a one-off thing. I didn’t want to have a sequel for ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas’ because it also felt like a one-off thing. Certain things are best left on their own and that for me is one of them."Johnny Depp starred alongside Winona Ryder in 'Edward Scissorhands' and Tim has worked with both of them a number of times over the years.

Tim Burton may have reawakened the Ghost With the Most in the recently released sequel to his 1988 comedy-horror film “Beetlejuice,” but that didn’t seem to convince the filmmaker to revisit some of his other classics.
During a Q&a at the Marrakech International Film Festival on Saturday (via IndieWire), Burton dismissed the possibility of developing a sequel to 1990’s “Edward Scissorhands,” which starred Johnny Depp as the titular role.

Renowned filmmaker Tim Burton has shed light on Hollywood’s unpredictable nature, responding to reports regarding his involvement in a probable remake of the 1958 sci-fi classic Attack of the Fifty-Foot Woman. Burton shared insights into the emotional hurdles of working in an industry where projects are frequently uncertain until production begins at the Marrakech Film Festival.
“I have no real projects at the moment,” Burton stated. “One thing I learned very early on is that until I’m on the set doing something, I don’t know if I’m doing it.” His comments come after reports in February 2024 linked him to a remake of Gone Girl with author Gillian Flynn. Burton was cautious, recalling previous situations in which initiatives were abandoned despite significant progress.
