| Okay, yes, this movie is not what anyone would call "great"
I personally, find this movie so delightfully trashy as to be the epitomy of what "B" films are SUPPOSED to be about: implausible situations, done with the tongue firmly embedded in the cheek, tweeking the audience every chance they get.

Trivia

Several of the 'college campus' scenes early in the movie were shot in and around various buildings at the University of California at Riverside (UCR): the outdoor scene in which the expedition is planned was filmed in the north courtyard of Olmsted Hall; the lecture hall scenes were filmed in the (unnamed) Physics building; the academic office scene was filmed in the offices of the Anthropology department; and the scene with the jeep driving under the wavy awning was filmed at the front of the Tomas Rivera Library, UCR's central academic library. The pool deck scenes were shot at an apartment complex near the campus which was later purchased by the university.

Sam: Yeah?
Fred: I think we should head back. We're getting in too deep.

Alternate Versions

The first video release by Colourbox Video was cut by 16 seconds for a 15 certificate to remove a scene where a ninja uses nunchuks. At the time, the distributors were not allowed to release a video with the word 'cannibal' in the title - forcing them to change the title to 'Piranha Women in the Avocado Jungle of Death'. The 1999 video release by Metrodome Video was allowed to be called 'Cannibal Women in the Avocado Jungle of Death' and was passed without cuts at the 12 certificate.
