Young newlyweds find out just how unprepared they are for their future together.
This movie was filmed at the same time as two other John Hughes movies: The Great Outdoors (1988), which was written by Hughes, and Planes, Trains & Automobiles (1987), which was written and directed by him. Some of the same cast members from both films appear in this film in cameos seen at the end of the picture.
How do you feel about slave wages?
Jefferson "Jake" Edward Briggs: Slave wages are okay.
Bill: How do you feel about alcoholics?
Jefferson "Jake" Edward Briggs: Um, I like alcoholics?
When Kristy tells Jake she stopped taking the pill, he is shown on a rocket sled which crashes into a concrete wall. When it explodes the size of the flame doesn't match the size of the wreckage - it's clearly a model.
The film's title is followed by the same 5 symbols that appeared at the start of each episode of Ben Casey (1961): "man, woman, birth, death, infinity" as the narrator of that series used to say.
