  • It's really sad, that there still is no DVD release of this great series. I never missed an episode. Please, SONY PHE, release this TV-show!!! I guaran-damn-tee you, it will be a BESTSELLER!

It's a shame, that there's only one season. Maybe HARDBALL didn't start at the right time... And when i look at todays shows, i really miss the old days with Charlie & Kaz. So many epic moments, so many LOLs...

And the theme song from Sylvester Levay & Eddie Money: GREAT...and also never released.

If SONY would start e petition, i'd be one of the first to sign it!

If you have the chance to watch this show, don't hesitate. It's worth watching more than once...
  • I agree with 'what happened'??? This was a really good show but apparently didn't pick up the viewers. That was their loss and ultimately the fans it did garner. The show was a mixture of drama and comedy from my recollection. I just remember it was GREAT!!!
  • This was one of the best series ever, everyone remembers hardball. it's a shame it only ran for one series.

The chemistry between John Ashton & Richard Tyson was amazing, it has to be one of the most underrated TV shows that people enjoyed that never got a second series or even more.

The comedy between these two was brilliant. it's a shame they can't remake the series as it would not be the same without John Ashton & Richard Tyson, to me they made hardball and it would be impossible to replace them.

Columbia Pictures Television would make a fortune if they released this as a box set. i'm almost certain it would be a hit.

Ileana, nice to hear there's another person who liked the show. In Finland we had 15 or 16 episodes I think, and I recorded all of those. I still do have them on VHS.

Since Hardball's not on DVD, or even original VHS, I've been thinking of getting my recorded episodes to digital format at some point. I do have the pilot also, but due to some sad coincidences, it has a bit worse quality than the other episodes.

Great series, John Ashton and Richard Tyson had a nice chemistry and fitted their roles perfectly. The best thing in the series was the humour, which often came from these two guys competing each other. That lead to a lot of juicy loud-mouthing and amusing happenings.

Why it was canceled after one season, is a mystery to me, but I definitely miss the characters. It's not realistic to wait for it's second airing I guess. :(
  • Warning: Spoilers
Hardball was a very entertaining show to watch! Sure, the writing wasn't the most advanced or creative, but it took what good fiction is supposed to do; take us away for a hour.

The writing, and the acting of the characters Charlie and Kaz, was fantastic. The contrast between them with the age, cultural and their own unique personalities is what, I feel, carried the show and gave it humor. Richard and John, you did a GREAT job!!!I was very disappointed to see that Hardball ended It would seem more now then ever, that if a TV show, despite the writing (e.g., the talented writing and acting of the USA show, Monk (which was originally on a major network)) doesn't have enough violence, or sex in it's content, it just doesn't make it. I bet a lot of quality entertainment has been lost because of those standards. Granted Hardball probably wasn't cut because of that in itself, but I imagine there might of been more of a audience if they threw some dirt on it, which is really to bad. Plus if I am recalling correctly, the show was on a Friday night, which was a mistake for the audience they were trying to hit.

If anyone knows how to get episodes on VHS, or DVD, post a note and let me know.~L
  • Okay, this was a short-lived series that should have continued.

I especially got a kick out of the suspenseful, action-packed pilot (first episode), and loved the relationships that developed, especially between "Kaz" (Richard Tyson) and "Billy" (Jarrett Lennon), who was kidnapped, and ended up in huge and exciting (and VERY FUNNY!) adventures. I liked the icehouse scenes the best, and that car scene (into the bay) was HOT!

Whatever HAPPENED to Richard Tyson?! He was funny-cool!
  • I was very sorry when the series ended. I enjoyed enormously, all the episodes, the stories, the actors, everything about it. The thread has been taken from "Beverly Hills cop" - I believe- from the scene where Billy ( who was reloading his gun), hidden together with Taggart (John Ashton) behind a wall, on their bellies, to avoid the bullets of Victor Maitland's goons, said to Taggart that the scene reminds him of Butch Cassidy and Sundance Kid, when they were surrounded by the Bolivian Army and run out of bullets;to which Taggart(John Ashton) answered that if they will get out alive from that jam, he will make Billy(character played by Judge Reinhold)pay!! The scene was extremely funny and somebody had the idea to take these two characters out of this movie and make a series. They created Kaz and Battles from Billy and Taggart, from "Beverly Hills cop". I did not manage to tape the pilot. Could anybody help me with information where could I get a copy of the pilot? The entire series has not been released on DVD or on VHS, here in England; it only has been televised once.
  • I LOVED this series, I have a few of them on tape. I started watching the pilot because I was a John Ashton fan, and he is closer to my own age... but by the time the pilot movie was over with I had fallen in LOVE with Richard! The first season was way better than the second.. for as long as the second lasted! I would really like to have a copy of the original pilot movie. I have tried and tried to find it but have never been lucky, if anyone can help me find a copy, please let me know! I am a huge fan of Richard Tyson and have seen him three times in person. I think he will someday be a big star, it's just taking him a long time! I can send a blank tape if someone can make a transfer, or if anyone can give me some ideas on where to look for a copy, I would appreciate any help.
