Kang and Kodos (the aliens) are named for two Star Trek: The Original Series (1966) characters.Star Trek: The Original Series: Day of the Dove (1968), Kang was a Klingon warrior, and in Star Trek: The Original Series: The Conscience of the King (1966)(#1.13), Kodos was an Adolf Hitler-like mass murderer.
