The movie is set in the United States but really was filmed in the United Kingdom. In particular shows the Monarch Theatre. The word "Theatre" is by far the preferred spelling in British English, but the most correct word "Theater" is spelling in American English.
The opening credits appear as the camera goes through/around a giant Batman symbol.
