An old Jewish woman and her African-American chauffeur in the American South have a relationship that grows and improves over the years.
In the scene where Miss Daisy gives Hoke a writing book as a gift, she mentions to Hoke that she taught Mayor Hartsfield out of the same book. This is a reference to William Hartsfield (1890-1971) who was a six-term mayor of Atlanta from 1937-1961.
How're you, Idella?
Boolie Werthan: Where's that vacuum cleaner I brought over here?
Idella: In the closet.
Boolie Werthan: She won't touch it.
Idella: I would if it didn't give me a shock every time I come near it!
Boolie Werthan: It works for me!
Idella: Fine... you clean and I'll go down and run your office!
When Miss Daisy speaks about her brother's wedding back in 1888, she says she was 12 meaning that she was born in 1876, but the picture on her wall says she was in fifth grade in 1896 which can't be correct as one wouldn't be 20 years old at fifth grade also the girls of the class look 10 to 12 years old only.
