After a single, career-minded woman is left on her own to give birth to the child of a married man, she finds a new romantic chance in a cab driver. Meanwhile, the point-of-view of the newborn boy is narrated through voice-over.
Robin Williams, was considered for the voice of Mikey. But Williams' agent wanted too much money, which was double the film's production budget. However, he would co-star with John Travolta in the Disney movie, Old Dogs (2009).
I've raised my kids.
Mollie: Raised them? They're 11 and 9. Don't tell me they've moved out and gotten jobs already!
During the very last scene James and Mikey go to a hospital to see Molly. While walking into her hospital room you can see it's obviously a set/sound stage when you look up at the top, in the corner(s), you will see it for a few good seconds.
James brings Mikey to see his new sister: Mollie: "Hi honey." James: "Mikey, this is your sister Julie." Mollie: "Hi Julie." Mikey: "Hi Julie." Julie (voice of Joan Rivers): "Don't start with me kid. I've had a day you wouldn't believe. Can we talk?"
The UK cinema version was cut by the BBFC to remove one use of the word 'fuck' during the childbirth scene. This was restored to all later releases.
