Despite the police's preemptive strike, the illegal coast-to-coast car race is still on with new drivers. It's a race where fair play, red lights, stop signs, police roadblocks and traffic rules in general have no validity.
Even tho this movie is intentionally an unofficial The Cannonball Run (1980) sequel, it also pays tribute to Cannonball! (1976) by having the end of the race finish at the Santa Monica Pier. The Santa Monica Pier is where the race of Cannonball! (1976) began.
Four to one, Vic! The Jag wins!
Vic DeRubis: Yeah, but we're not in the Jag.
Alec Stewart: It doesn't matter, Vic! The Jag wins, we win!
Alec Stewart: But more, much more than this, I did it my way!
When they are about to start the race, the tail lights of Valentinos Lambo Countach are the original LP500 ones, later when they race Alec and Vic in their Jag, the tail lights are the same as those on the 25th Anniversary edition of the LP500.
