Harry Crumb is a bumbling and inept private investigator who is hired to solve the kidnapping of a young heiress which he's not expected to solve because his employer is the mastermind behind the kidnapping.
The ransom in the movie is for $10,000,000. Adjusting for inflation this would be a little over $19,000,000 in 2016.
Back then, dinner and a movie might have gotten you into some girl's panties, but it's gonna take a lot more than that to get into mine.
When Harry takes the pictures of Elliot and Helen from inside the vent, he is at angle far away from them. When he shows the pictures to Elliot later, the pictures show that they were taken from a closer point of view and from the side.
The British TV version included a scene near the end when John Candy is on top of a vehicle chasing after an aeroplane about to take off. The co-pilot looks out of the window, sees him and says, "What the fuck?!". This scene was not present in UK cinema and video releases which were cut to receive a PG rating, though the word was restored for the 12-rated 2008 Sony DVD.
