Exclusive: Gotham Award winner Dawn Porter (Luther: Never Too Much) will direct and produce a documentary about one of the most iconic, politically-charged partnerships in history: the remarkable, largely untold story of Nelson and Winnie Mandela. She’ll also produce through her Trilogy Films, alongside the Schultz Family Foundation.
Based on Winnie and Nelson: Portrait of a Marriage, a book by noted South African writer and scholar Jonny Steinberg, the film will explore the Mandelas’ profound bond and how their marriage was inextricably entangled with the struggle against apartheid. The film promises an intimate portrayal of Nelson and Winnie’s marriage, delving into their vehement and volatile connection from their early years to their mutual goal of dismantling apartheid. Their journey culminates in Nelson Mandela’s historic election as South Africa’s first democratically elected President.

They have the longest royal marriage in history – and that’s because Queen Elizabeth, 91, and Prince Philip, 96, who celebrate the 70th anniversary of their engagement on July 10, have an ideal dynamic, says their biographer Gyles Brandreth.
In an essay for the new issue of Britain’s Radio Times, Brandreth, author of 2004’s Portrait of a Marriage, offers insight into the royal couple’s almost 70-year union.
Here’s what makes their remarkable marriage work:
1. He makes her laugh
With his dry wit and famously uncensored humor, Philip has long been the person who can most bring a smile to the Queen’s face.

What's the key to Queen Elizabeth's heart? Prince Philip, who turns 95 on Friday, said the secret behind his long-lasting marriage to the Queen is the fact that he makes her laugh, according to royal biographer Gyles Brandreth. Brandreth, who was given "privileged access" to the Queen and Philip for his 2004 book, Portrait of a Marriage, shared some key moments of his conversations with the royals with the Radio Times, including praise for the prince for being the "power behind the throne." "If we regard the Queen's record-breaking reign as a success - and I think most of us do -...

Demi Moore's whereabouts are still top secret, but the troubled actress is seeking help from none other than spiritual guru Deepak Chopra, a source tells People. Moore, 49, has not been spotted since her health crisis began in January, but another source confirms she's in a treatment facility. It's not surprising that Moore would turn to Chopra, who has authored more than 64 books on spirituality and healing. The actress and Chopra go way back; in 1996, she visited him in India. She has also served on the board of advisers to his healing center, which is located in Carlsbad, Calif., 90 minutes south of Los Angeles.

He had a good time - and got some bad news - in Brazil. Now, Ashton Kutcher is back in Los Angeles. The actor, who visited the South American country to shoot a fashion ad campaign, landed at Lax on Thursday, days after his estranged wife Demi Moore was hospitalized after having what a source says looked like a seizure. Kutcher, 33, was photographed getting into his car at Lax before driving himself to Beverly Hills. He hasn't said anything about Moore, who is getting professional treatment for "exhaustion," according to her rep. But a source tells People he is "deeply...

More clues of what happened the night Demi Moore went to the hospital may emerge when officials release an edited version of the 911 call on Friday. The Los Angeles City Attorney's Office reviewed the emergency call, placed Monday night from her home, for references to the actress's medical condition or medication - information that could violate privacy laws, the Los Angeles Times reports. Moore, 49, who recently split with husband Ashton Kutcher, has sought "professional assistance" for the treatment of "exhaustion," her reps said after the actress was transported to the hospital. A source tells People Moore had what appeared to...

Less than two weeks before seeking treatment for exhaustion, Demi Moore spent a late night out in Hollywood with her 23-year-old daughter Rumer Willis. Wearing a short black skirt and striped sweater, the actress, 49, arrived at Beacher's Madhouse at The Roosevelt Hotel just after 11 p.m. on Jan. 11. "When she first arrived, she kept to herself ... but she started loosening up and getting into party mode," an onlooker tells People about Moore, who sipped Red Bull at the hot spot. "She seemed really happy to be out with her daughter's friends." Though she was not seen downing any alcohol, Moore,...

Janet McTeer has been able to straddle the blurred lines of femininity and masculinity better than most throughout her career. She's donned riding pants and romanced women as bisexual writer Vita Sackville-West in Portrait of a Marriage, but she's also strolled around in gothic gowns in the 1992 film version of Wuthering Heights. She's won awards for her work on both the stage and screen, including a Golden Globe for Best Actress in Tumbleweeds and a Tony for A Doll's House.
Attention: Spoilers ahead.
There seems to be no role McTeer can't play — or hasn't played — up until Albert Nobbs. In the new film, opening in theaters January 27, McTeer plays Hubert, a woman who lives her life as a male painter and is married to a woman, Kathleen. It was announced today that McTeer is up for a Best Supporting Actress Oscar for the role.

After a lesbian couple enjoyed the Us navy 'first kiss' on the pier, Julie Bindel picks her favourite women-only snogs
Lesbian kissing is more often than not viewed as specialist porn rather than a symbol of love and affection, but not so the footage captured on YouTube and newspapers of petty officers Marissa Gaeta and her partner Citlalic Snell. Gaeta and Snell were sharing the coveted homecoming "first kiss" on the pier, taking advantage of the repeal of the Us military's "don't ask, don't tell" rule. They had been at sea for 80 days and had no doubt missed each other. The fact that the crowd screamed and waved flags around the couple shows how far we have come since the days when the tabloids were expressing outrage at any sign of affection between lesbians on TV.
Which takes me to number 10 on my list of favourite lezzer snogs of all time.

And that's showbiz. On Thursday, the same day the news broke that his wife of six years, Demi Moore, was filing for divorce, Ashton Kutcher proved the show must go - in this case, on the set of Two and a Half Men. The dressed-down comedian, 33, was back to business for his debut season on the CBS comedy at the Warner Bros. studio lot in Burbank to play Walden, a recently divorced bachelor, who was written into the show when Charlie Sheen was fired from the hit series earlier this year.
