  • I don't know what the other guy says, this is by far the best comedy series Germany ever produced. Ein Schloss am Woerthersee really is like Loveboat, but far better executed than that series. Roy Black excels as the charming Lennie Berger and the rest of the cast does well. Particularly great are Josef and Malek (played by Otto W. Retzer (also director of several episodes in the series' entire run) and Adolf Peichl), two lazy workers-gardiners at the Hotel, who are getting themselves into trouble and are consistently very funny.

The series lasted from 1990 to 1993, three seasons. The first two seasons are really good, whereas the third one was not nearly as good. Thats of course because Roy Black died right after the second one ended. Its also a more bittersweet season, because of that. Anyhow, it provides a satisfying conclusion to the series, nonetheless.

The series also has its share of amazing guest stars. From Harald Junke, to Larry Hangman and Linda Gray to Telly Savalas, the series has its international appeal, providing thus the joy with which these actors did their episodes.

The series is really great. You should watch it (given you know German - the DVD doesn't have subtitles!). Its really good. Really.
