A brilliant scientist left for dead returns to exact revenge on the people who burned him alive.
As Darkman is pushing his cart of lab equipment to the warehouse where he is building his new lab, a torn shirt with the word "Tamakwa" is hanging from the fence. Director Sam Raimi went to Camp Tamakwa as a child.
'Cause he's an asshole! Tell him no. Tell him no, too. Him, tell "fuck you." No, I'm gonna be here a minute. Got some guy coming up who thinks he's gonna muscle me out of my property. What's it matter! Just another tough guy, that's all.
When Peyton returns to his lab after its destruction, a photo of him and Julie is lying on the floor. The picture has half of Peytons face missing. Later, when Peyton moves into the abandoned building and puts the photo into the machine, more of Peyton's face is visible.
The opening credit sequence is full of dark clouds and brief images of Darkman. The second A in the title is shaped like Darkman's silhouette.
German VHS versions were cut by a few seconds to secure a "Not under 18" rating.
