This is a low-key, low-tech, extremely satisfying simple story, a story repeated a thousand times in America: When immigrants come, they adopt some of the new ways and reject some of the old ways, much to the chagrin of their parents. Our story here has a Jewish twist, but the Italians, the Irish, the Hispanics and others all have similar stories to tell.
