  • Yves Boisset has made several courageous movies ,he has often taken risks ,his most salutary quality has always been his social and political commitment. His movies have supported leftist causes ,sometimes at considerable personal and professional expense.

But here his approach to political cinema is so muddled ,so far-fetched and so naive it's nearly unbearable.

"La Tribu" wants to denounce political skulduggery ;it revolves around an imaginary extreme right wing party "France Nouvelle" which exists in the real world under the "Front National" label.

Enough is enough! the students' blue jokes (to give the story a realistic side),"accidents",pedophilia, drugs,a lot of heart attacks ,autopsies, blackmail ,aids,Jews ......The audience is compelled to give up in front of this spate of clichés.

A piece of advice:some good films by Yves Boisset:

    RAS (1973)

    Dupont-Lajoie (1974)

    Allons z' Enfants (1981)

    Le Pantalon (MTV)
