  • As a South African, I saw this on M-Net's Open Time, Fridays at 18:30, so the one thing I am up on you lot of Americans: I saw the whole thing, nyaah! nyaah! nyaah! Now that was years ago, so filling in the blanks here on IMDb is not going to be my strong suit, and I won't even try, even though I'm pretty sure of some facts.

It's another one of those shows that I didn't really intend to watch, but I was monitoring (with my VCR on standby) the evening's menu, M-Net Premium Time began at 19:00. I made a point of watching when I saw that this one rose far, far above the level of junk spewed out in great gobs at us. Unfortunately, I didn't record a damn thing, because with a TV series, I insisted on having the whole thing, and this only became popular with me while it was on.

So I read here the review mentioning how that person have 5 episodes and pulls out the tape every now and then, and I yell FOOL at myself for missed opportunities.

People, appreciate what you have access to! Hold on to your favorites! I could do with this show right now on a cold winter's morning, a good rollicking laugh! Heed my words!

As for the negative response for that stupid reason, there wasn't anything mean-spirited there. Screw political correctness anyway.

Unavailable on DVD? Shops, you lose! Right now, I am in a mood to buy ten copies.
  • Good & Evil was the funniest show since Soap was cancelled and I actually only really loved Soap for maybe the first 2 years then it went lame . Any how , Good & Evil was from the get go hiliarius .Teri Garr was the sexy yet funny character that made the entire show ! I loved the character George too , he was beyond funny !!! Seth Green was really great playing Garr's son and the entire cast all went perfect together . Good & Evil I heard was cancelled because of all the bad press they got from making fun of a blind man and a mute girl .I have nearly the entire show on video and watch it regularly and laugh until my sides hurt . I am telling all who read this if at all possible watch and laugh , seek it out because Good & Evil is like no other show ever ..... it rules and is the best comedy show ever !!!
  • If you liked "Soap" you'll like this. It's about a crazy family with evil sister Denise Sandler (Teri Garr) and good sister Charlotte. It just involved Denise trying to get everything her way and will do anything to get it. Naturally they have some very unusual family members and friends.

This aired for only a few months in 1991. In fact it was the first new show that was cancelled! I never figured out why. It was funny, racy (for 1991) and kept pushing the envelope every chance it got. Garr was just great in her role--she was clearly relishing every moment she was on screen. Also it had a blind character (played by Mark Blankfield) who accidentally destroys a laboratory completely while trying to help Charlotte. That came under attack by a group for blind people but it was repeated again a week or two later! I have to admit I was in hysterics both times I saw it. He also accidentally kisses another man on the lips--pretty risky for 1991.

It was WAY ahead of its time and was probably too much for 1991 audiences. I think it would be a hit today. Where's the DVD release? I give this a 10.

This was becoming my all time favorite show (With the possible exception of Married with Children) When I tuned in to watch the 7th episode and it didn't come on I was terribly disappointed. The network big wigs who decided to end this series for reasons of political correctness have got to be some of the dumbest people in the industry.

This was sizing up to be the funniest series I have ever seen. It was cancelled without warning due to political correctness. What a shame the networks are so cowardly.

Being a Teri Garr fan, I was excited to hear of a show starring her. When I saw the first episode, I was immediately hooked. The humor is wacky, hilarious, and executed perfectly by the whole cast. If you liked "Soap," you will like this show as well. I'm pretty sure it was produced by the same people. It's sad that shows of this caliber are not kept by the networks. I don't know if it has ever been shown on any of the cable or satellite channels, but if it ever is, be sure to catch it. I guarantee you will get several good laughs. Only six episodes were ever aired. I don't know if more were made or not. I was able to get 5 of the 6 when they originally were shown, and every few years I pull the tape out and watch it again. Great stuff!
  • Very funny show---great cast----unfortunately prematurely canceled when some unduly sensitive people were offended. If it ever shows itself, see rich performances by Teri Garr, Mark Blankfield and Seth Green! If this show had premiered today, it would have stood well against comedies such as ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT. I believe Mark Blankfield's character's "visually challenged" antics would have met with contempt or "outrage"if viewed today. He simply, and comically, waves his blindness cane about with some hilarious consequences. In the same era, another extremely well cast comedy, "THE POWERS THAT BE", succumbed to studio neglect, placement of show with immense promise on a Saturday night schedule. If it is ever rerun, catch a suicidal, obsessive-compulsive congressman played by the great David Hyde Pierce.
  • Warning: Spoilers
I remember watching this show when it first aired. It was refreshing, creative, and a little risqué. I believe it was during one of the network strikes and was done as a filler. The use of the ludicrous and non-PC physical humor was great. The opening scene of the Sherpas finding the frozen explorer and debating whether to retrieve him set the tone for the whole first episode...who knew Sherpas could be funny! The blind gentleman destroying everything he touched was a return to more of the physical comedy of an earlier era.

Presently trying to track down which network aired it and if it will be on DVD sometime in the future. Definitely doesn't deserve to sit on a warehouse shelf unwatched. Four stars!

I actually attended a taping of this new show before it ever aired. The audience received it well and I too was surprised when it was canceled. I think it had to do with scheduling. Not many people saw it. On the west coast it aired after 10 pm on a weeknight. I remember thinking it was great because it was so much like "Soap." I was upset when "Soap" was canceled too. A show completely before it's time. I'll be so glad when the fad of reality TV comes to an end and we see more situation comedies with good wacky characters. I've grown tired of seeing who can get there first, lose the most weight, or survive the longest. Let's see another Lucy, Edith, Phoebe, or Jessica Tate! Wouldn't a "Soap" reunion be great!? I think TV networks are selling out! They're saving money on having less writers and probably paying the reality "stars" less money.
  • Another one of the good shows that didn't make it.

GOOD & EVIL was a hillarious spoof-show of soap-operas and was basically about a good sister, a scientist, and her evil sister, a femme fatale-wannabe, fighting each other.

The good sister has a scientist friend, who has a crush on her, who happens to be blind (and keeps knocking stuff over) and a daughter who doesn't want to talk.

And to make thing sillier the evil sister has an ex-husband (played by South African "gods must be crazy" actor Marius Weyers) chasing her whom she pushed off Mount Everest and has been frozen for two years in the Himalayas.

Meanwhile their mother is having a new lover over who is obviously after her money and somewhere their mother's evil twin comes in.

Fun if you can catch it somewhere...
  • This series only ran for about six episodes if I remember correctly, but it was too far ahead of its time to be popular in 1991. Irreverent, zany, madcap, and hilarious, I imagined this series would last a lot longer than it did.

Teri Garr did an excellent job as the star, and Lane Davies (having recently been one of the popular members of the Days of Our Lives cast before starring in G&E) did a great job as well. With a talented supporting cast, this series should've had a much bigger following.

Lane Davies played a doctor experimenting with different potions, sometimes having a Jekyll & Hyde effect on him, and Teri Garr played the perfect love interest.

If you ever have the opportunity to watch this show, it deserves a second look.
