Two early thirties best friends live together while having completely different personalities. While their girlfriends try to help them take on more responsibilities the boys seldom respond well and usually end up drinking together.
Writer Simon Nye has two cameo roles in the series. The main one is Clive, who films Gary (Martin Clunes) and Dorothy (Caroline Quentin)'s wedding.
Dorothy:
Gary doesn't understand periods. He thinks they're something to do with the moon.
In the early seasons Gary had a driving licence and was shown having hired a car to spy on Dorothy as seen in season 4, episode 2, "Infidelity", and in season 3, episode 2, "Bed" is seen borrowing Dorothy's car to go to the chemist to buy antacid; but by season 6 he can't drive and has never driven, as seen in season 6, episode 3, "Jealousy"
On the original broadcast, there were no on-screen episode titles (which are rare in British sitcoms), but they have been added to the Video & DVD releases.
