Series lost some steam by this movie, but still OK.

This is a second comedy sequel to Heart to Hearts, starring George Lam as Alex whose finally marries girlfriend Chu Lai-Ngor (Carol 'Dodo' Cheng). But now, Alex is out of work and Lai-Ngor has been scammed by her boss to take the fall for his investment firm's impending ruin.

It's quite the typical comedy, but it's mixed in with some light-hearted stuff, not-too-sappy drama and a rather interesting plot. By the third installment, this series has lost some steam as this movie wasn't as entertaining as the previous two films, but it's still OK.

Boring, slow paced and pointless...

I watched the 1992 Hong Kong movie "Sam Yan Jo Sai Gai" (aka "Heart Against Hearts") for the first time ever here in 2022. In fact, I had never heard about this movie from writers Miu-Suet Lai, Man Choi Lee, Wai-Shek Ng and Stephen Shin, so I wasn't sure what to expect from it.

I was, however, expecting the movie to be funny, as it was labelled as a comedy here on IMDb, but there was nothing funny about this movie whatsoever. In fact, this is more of a drama than it is a comedy. I didn't even laugh once throughout the 55 minutes of the movie that I suffered through.

Yeah, and I say suffered through, because the storyline told in "Sam Yan Jo Sai Gai" was as slow paced as it was pointless and devoid of entertainment. So it was quite an ordeal to sit through this movie, and I had to give up on it after 55 minutes of torment.

The movie has a couple of familiar faces on the cast list, with the likes of Paul Chun, Philip Chan, Shiu Hung Hui and George Lam. Not that the movie was made any better from them performing in the movie, as they virtually had nothing to work with in terms of script, character or solid contents.

This is not a movie that I will be returning to watch the rest of, as I simply wasn't even remotely entertained. And this is not a movie that I would recommend you to sit down and watch, not even as a newcomer or veteran to the Hong Kong cinema.

My rating of director Stephen Shin's 1992 movie "Sam Yan Jo Sai Gai" lands on a three out of ten stars.
