  • Historical miniseries chronicles a time and place when giants walked the earth -- Michelangelo, Da Vinci, Raphael, Savonarola, the Medicis, Pope Julius II, among others. Director London, best known for his other miniseries SHOGUN, memorably dramatizes the rivalries and alliances wrought from art and politics. Although marred by poor looping (as well as a sun-saturated visual style uniquely TNT's, no matter who the director), it deserves to see the light of VHS. A great companion piece to THE AGONY AND THE ECSTASY (and, to a lesser extent, PRINCE OF FOXES). Based on the book by Vincenzo Labella, who also produced.
