| A very fun action comedy from Hong Kong!
This is an action comedy from Hong Kong, starring Carol 'Do Do' Cheng as developer Ms. Cheung who moves to the Hong Kong countryside, getting herself caught in a showdown between a gang of jewel thieves and two police officers in the process. The gang's injured getaway driver (Siu-Chun To) sneaks into Cheung's moving van and escapes to the countryside, into Cheung's new home. Cheung befriends Pak-Lam (Pak Lam Cheng), a skillful and inquisitive little boy who helps her settle in the village. Pak-Lam soon encounters the thief, who actually has a harmless and non-aggressive attitude, but has in his possession a bag of stolen jewels both the police and the gangsters are searching for.

It's a fun movie that has a good mixture of comedy and action in the three sub-plots, from Ms. Cheung's lovable friendship with Pak-Lam, to the gun-totting and martial-arts action scenes involving the gangsters and the police. Also thrown into the mix is the sometimes frustrated but funny relationship between Ms. Cheung and her police boyfriend Inspector So (Tony Ka Fai Leung). All the actors did a good job in their acting roles, and I especially liked the parts where the inquisitive Pak Lam shelters the harmless thief. Also a treat to watch is the special appearances by martial arts-skilled and die-hard policewoman Woo Shiu Fung, played by Moon Lee.

There are some heart-warming moments where Ms. Cheung teaches Pak-Lam about offspring and family. Cheung has the title role of the movie, but you sometimes wonder how all the action and gangster scenes blend in for what appears to be a harmless comedy. Nonetheless, it's great stuff from start to finish. ***spoiler ahead*** I just wished that the ending wasn't as rushed and the end results of some of the characters were left a bit ambiguous. ***spoiler ends***
