  • I found this movie in a Laser Disc deleted blow-out bin for .50cents!! I bought it along with 75 other titles. "Dark Horse is a heartwarming story about a highschool girl whose father played by "Ed Begley Jr." relocates them to a small town. She gets mixed up with the wrong group of friends & she gets into some trouble. She then has to work at a horse ranch as part of her punishment. I really enjoyed this movie. "Ari Meyers" is really good in playing "Ed Begley Jr." daughter (Allison Mills). She is a very good actress with alot of talent. This film has a valuable lesson to be learned. This movie is a .50cent gold mine!!!!!!
  • I am very biased towards this movie for many reasons...

This movie was great, not only to watch its making, but to see it as a preview on the Big Screen. Many friends I grew up with starred in this movie as background people. I also got to celebrate my 16th Birthday on Set, and meet Ari Meyers and Ed Bagley Jr. in person, as well as the crew (more specifically - the lighting crew). It's too bad this movie didn't make it to the big time in more ways than it did. The story line is great. The actors are kind people, who like to have a lot of good, clean 'family' fun.

Many scenes in this movie were shot at major landmarks in the Wood River Valley (Idaho). Some of them are now historic memories and have either been moved, tore down, or changed ownership.

This by no means is an action movie, so yes, it will seem 'slow'. This is a family movie to teach children and parents that when you act out, and disobey, there are consequences for your actions. That a punishment is what you make of it, and in the movie Allison (Ari Meyers), started her punishment w/a chip on her shoulder, and made it into something Great! Both on set and off, these actors appeared to relate well with each other.

I highly recommend this movie! So much in fact, i'm trying to track down another copy of this, as I recently lost my copy in a house fire.
  • A great family movie. Just enjoyed this picture so much. Ari Meyers is wonderful as the spoiled kid that finally comes around and Donovan Leitch is an eyeful for the young ladies. Based on a story by 50s legend Tab Hunter (who does a small part in the pic)this movie will have you tearing and cheering. If you love horses you will flip over his great movie. Just wish that Tab Hunter would have stayed in front of the camera more instead of behind it. Ed Bagley, Jr., and Mini Rogers are perfect for their roles as Dad and Vet. Photography is great too, wonderful scenes of the farm and horses. You'll forget all about elections, wars and such when you settle back and watch this truly great movie.
  • Slow moving, dull tale of a spoiled rotten teen-age girl who spent the entire film pouting and throwing tantrums. Everyone around her constantly bent over backwards trying to please the little snot which, of course, made her cut up even more. This little brat should have had her backside warmed up and made to wash horses tails all day. Could have been a good movie, but just fell flat to me.
  • Wonderful, heartfelt tale of a troubled teen sent to work through her problems at a horse ranch and discovers herself in the process. Touching with a sense of truth and a good bet for the entire family. Ari Meyers is great as Allison in the title role.
