Set in the 1950s, a star-quarterback is given an opportunity to attend an elite preparatory school but must conceal the fact that he is Jewish.
While reviewing this movie on his show, Gene Siskel recalled experiencing anti-Semitic prejudice during his time at prep school, including being handed piece of toast with jam in the shape of a swastika. Siskel said the film had a fairly high bar with him due to its subject matter, but the end result pleased him very much.
Davey! Davey you're here.
Jack Connors: He's not going off to war, only Massachusetts, huh?
When David is running for the winning touchdown the goal posts are in different places while the scene progresses. He dives through them, but then they are shown to be several yards away when he lands. Also, the goal posts are not on the goal line so there was no need for him to cross that line.
