Animated MTV series about two teenage heavy-metal music fans who occasionally do idiotic things because they're bored. For them, everything is "cool" or "sucks."
The New Wave of British Heavy Metal band Grim Reaper appeared a few times on the show. Beavis and Butt-head poked fun at them through out the video. However, the band had the last laugh, as in early 2000, fan interest spawned re-issues of the bands first two albums. In the liner notes, the band poked fun at Beavis and Butt-head, including a comment of Where are they now, based on the fact that the cartoon duo had faded from the public memory.
Hey Beavis, you know how sometimes we get a ride home from school, and there's all those dudes crammed together in the backseat?
Butt-head: Yeah, why?
Beavis: Um, heh heh, it is normal to get wood?
Butt-head: Beavis, you boner-popping pervert... it's not even normal to ASK!
When watching a Van Halen video with Sammy Hagar singing, Beavis and Butt-Head say something like "how could they fire Van Halen from Van Halen!?" in reference to David Lee Roth's parting ways with the band. However, David Lee Roth is NOT a member of the Van Halen family (though this may have been deliberate to show their stupidity.)
In Canada, the intro always said "Warning, warning extreme bad taste alert people, this comedy may offend some viewers so viewer discretion is advised ok"
The Mike Judge Collection DVD sets feature longer opening credits than when the episodes originally aired.
