Dr. Frasier Crane moves back to his hometown of Seattle, where he lives with his father, and works as a radio psychiatrist.
In one episode, after a night at the opera watching "Rigoletto" by Verdi, Frasier remarks to his date that the finest soprano to sing the role of "Gilda" was "The great Mathilde Decagney". Matilda de Cagny is the animal trainer who owns Moose, the dog who plays Eddie.
As always with any long-running comedy series, there are some inconsistencies in characters' back-histories between episodes, but we generally excuse them. Discrepancies between this series and Cheers (from which it is a spin-off) are completely exempt from nitpicking (and some have been explained away, anyway).
