In Missouri, during the 1840s, young Huck Finn fearful of his drunkard father and yearning for adventure, leaves his foster family and joins with runaway slave Jim in a voyage down the Mississippi River toward slavery free states.
"Pap Finn"'s belch was added in later to be louder. Writer/Director Stephen Sommers says Ron Perlman, the actor who plays Pap Finn, "wasn't really good at belching".
What in hell's bells are you supposed to be?
Jim: The King said I was a Swahili warrior. He even taught me some Swahili or what he said was Swahili. Sounded like a pig in heat to me.
In the movie, the term "ratbags" is used. "Ratbags" is Australian in origin and was not in use until the 1890s. Since the movie was supposed to take place in the 1840s, it couldn't be used by Huck or anyone else.
