A feature adaptation of the classic television show, when nice guy redneck Jed Clampett strikes it rich when he finds black oil, and moves him and his kin to posh Beverly Hills.
Jim Varney almost didn't get the role of Jed Clampett. The studio thought he was too identified as Ernest. Varney's screen test impressed them enough to give him the role.
Reverend, do you think cousin Bill's gonna be too busy to make it to the wedding?
President Clinton: Hillary, where did I put that invitation?
When the Clampetts are eating at the pool table, Tyler arrives and goes to kiss Ellie May's hand. She flips him over and it appears that Tyler knocks a pool cue over on his way to the ground that was propped up against a wall unit. In the next shot, it is back in its place, and no one was seen to have picked it up.
The orangutan used in this film is a captive-born animal. He belongs to a highly endangered species protected by international laws and treaties.
